Without Mythologies
Here, in the halls of automatic learning,
the juries of the new-comical dispensation
require stricter sentences for unfortunate
pedestrians caught in marketing frenzies
and mild chocolate amnesias.
Christ descends upon every third house
leaving sparrows perched on his horrible nails
expecting the sun to come again
day after tomorrow.
Easter vestments curl like magic
horoscopes in the palms of small children,
thin fish that move through moods
of darkest amber.
Children understand the cracker-jack language
that grinds melancholies into their molars—
from their deepest cavities
come songs fashioned in sleepless ages.
Songs sung by the boogeymen who frown—
their capes throw shadows onto the cobblestone,
their mouths bend downward like black rainbows,
bent over the dead crows of their chins.
Through their pupils are the green fields.
When the children feel the warm trail
of urine riding the length of their legs
the fear has manifested itself,
the song moves into darker realms
where familiar relatives wear the faces
of barnyard animals.
Scared shitless,
we turn to the great-grandmother
in the dark,
her hands, the gnarled winter trees,
where we feel safe.
The song moves into hallways
where time’s memorabilia has disappeared
into the walls
leaving cracks and shadows
of forgotten histories.
Faces stare silhouetted against
our now, invade our imaginations
—the silent stories,
linger with us, move us, like misdirected
actors throughout our days.
Here, in the halls of our own sleeping
we wake covered in residual premonitions
unrecognized and rebranded by
pharmaceutical confabulations.
Where children throw rings around
their roses, fill their pockets with stolen
chocolate, play freeze-tag through midnight,
we find ourselves alone
in Lent’s ashes, a disabled symbolism
racing against us
in the night.
Blind Journey A Journalist’s Memoirs. After almost four years assigned to PIO learning to join two readable sentences, Jack faced civilian..
It was so many years ago when I first met her, but almost like yesterday. Charlene, the love of my life, dominated my thoughts deep into the night and early morning hours. After six and a half years, I still grieved like a lost puppy missing its mom. Insomnia can be dreadful, incurable in some cases, I suppose. Married sixty-three years, Charlene left me looking as beautiful as the day she stepped into my life on her way home from high school to say hello to Onalee, her next-door girlfriend. I didn’t need a dictionary to define the word. But I did have two days, the boyfriend’s away, and better yet, she’s right next door, probably long overdue for a fun weekend. “Guess she’s unavailable, Jack,” Onalee said after Charlene had left…
Don't ask if your dream is crazy, ask if it's crazy enough.
I am tired today. Part of it can be blamed on playing #animalcrossing way too late but also because as of late, my sleep has been full of very long, vivid dreams. I’ve always been a dreamer but since this pandemic started, I’ve dreamt about people I haven’t seen or thought about in years, ridiculous scenarios, and a lot of time the theme of the dreams are that I’m lost or trying to get somewhere else. Normally I can find reasons why I have dreamt about things based on conversations or activities in previous days but not these. Anyone else having crazy dreams these days? #dreams #crazydreams #sleep #animalcrossingnewhorizons #pandemic #vividdreams (at Whitby, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAF1K7lgMW9/?igshid=12zpefeppkv9a

Last night I had the weirdest dream. I actually had two separate dreams . Haa anyone else been able to remember their dreams ?
I had a dream about my grandma. My grandma died a few years back , and we were in the church where I grew up. One of her favorite places. I got to see her and some of the other people from my childhood. I heard a favorite hymn in the background from my piano teacher . Then my dad shows up to pick me up and asks what’s wrong . I said I keep having dreams about grandma . He said that was okay . I miss her . Thanks for the visit grandma 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
goodmorning from me
i literally woke up w one of the craziest dreams i ever had like wtf. all i could remember was just water & running & cheering. i think it was an island. like just running up the water like a competition. & you had to jump his big rock to start off. & waves came & it took all the star out. then we put the water back in. idk he pretty wild. i hadn’t had a dream since forever & it was crazy.
