Evelyne Brochu for Clone Club ❤️
📷 : Tara Neidert, September 30, 2021
Older Terry Silver clones himself and now he has his 1980s self living with him. Can you write how they would get along or not at all? Who would be in charge?
Lets imagine Dynatox dabbles in some unethical and crazy science.
Which isn't at all improbable.
And that in some hidden laboratory, that is entirely off limits, and insanely high tech extremely covert and hidden, not showing up on any maps and that a bribed off government keeps hush-hush about, Terry and his hand picked collective of scientists make breakthrough achievements (and experiments) almost constantly --- a great many of which, knowing Dynatox, as you guessed it, aren't morally sound and which Terry, if he so chooses, sells off and leverages to the highest bidder, be it other countries, conglomerates, dictators, paramilitary leaders and whoever else can afford it just because, not that Terry lacks for money or anything of the sort. He enjoys becoming death, destroyer of worlds, is all, his toxic waste disposal business, while controversial and problematic, as the kids nowadays say, still only just a surface level cover-up for something even worse, more sinister and darker. The rabbit's hole always runs deep with Terry. All the tinfoil wearing conspiracy theories surrounding him are true, scarily enough. It's terrifying --- especially with how he appears like a partially retired businessman, is all. Nothing to see here. Meanwhile ---
One of those breakthrough scientific achievements could easily be cloning.
Maybe tested, at first on animals and then later on Terry's own DNA, I feel his prime, 80's self might legitimately be the first person he'd think of cloning to life (unless his beloved died in the past), kept initially in a laboratory or a tube, until it is deemed that the immaculate, perfectly strong body of the creation can sustain itself and survive, after a series of mental and physical tests are administered to deem if everything, every brain and motor function is fully operational, and that the clone has a sense of perception, reality, taste, smell, direction, memory --- once it is decided that his own clone is healthy and as normal as something of a carbon copy of the past can be, an older Terry would pretty much keep his 80's clone as a secret companion, to maybe, alleviate his own loneliness and create for himself someone who perfectly understand him, especially a Terry confounded by those thirty years of John's absence. Who would understand him better than himself, after all? If Terry's best friend in the whole wide world isn't present, Terry will create himself a friend out of himself. Although, cloning John did come to mind ---
Naturally, I think 80's Terry would serve as the devil on old man Terry's shoulder.
Or perhaps, at times, an angel? A very messed up, dark angel, but still ---
I think a younger Terry serves as the voice of older Terry’s subconsciousness (a dynamic explored here in a roundabout way) and is often there to encourage him to step out of repressive molds he’s built for himself by himself, whether via letting lose, taking off his masks, being more honest,, which ironically leads to old man Terry becoming even darker, because his honesty reveals some pretty unpleasant truths about him, being more unhinged, volatile, aggressive, domineering, indulging in vices, sex --- you name it, as for older Terry, he slips and he slips easily, almost like he was looking for an excuse to do so and grasping unto straws --- when you reach the point of managing to successfully clone yourself with enough success to take advice from a sentient, highly intelligent copy of yourself, though, you’ve crossed a point of no return, and you might as well fall as far as you can fall.

Finally listening to that Orphan Black podcast and realized that I’ve been saying Cosima’s last name wrong ( in my head) this entire time
I really enjoyed this location!
So I did this illustration of Rick from Rick and Morty. What do you think?
