FANDOM INQUIRY

Does anyone know/understand immigration and citizenship issues to be able to break down the whole basis for the 2x07 plot for me?

Like, why does Liz need to be part owner of the cafe to sponsor Arturo’s citizenship? Everything I’ve read tonight about immigration regulations say that undocumented immigrants who have children who are U.S. Citizens over the age of 21 qualify as priority for green cards.

I wondered if it had to do with PROTECTING the Crashdown by ensuring that there was a legal citizen who owned it, but from what I read online tonight, it seems that being an undocumented business owner is ALSO seen as a plus because you’re benefiting society and therefore ASSISTS you with getting citizenship. One site I read actually said that transferring ownership to a citizen might actually HARM your ability to get your citizenship.

I’m trying to figure out if there’s some authentic explanation that makes sense for this, or if it was literally just catalyst for the drama of bringing Helena to town.

So...if you have seen any good metas about this subject, point me that way.
