Bhubaneswar: Atleast 40 persons including three children at different place in the capital city supported wounds because of sparkler blasts and admitted to different healing centers here amid Diwali festivities on Wednesday evening.
While two young people sustained critical injuries because of blast of sparklers in their grasp, an adolescent from Khurda admitted to Capital Hospital here in the wake of anguish from smolder wounds because of blast.
In another occurrence, a major flame broke out at a furniture showroom in Palasuni territory here on Wednesday night crushing properties worth Rs 1 crore. As indicated by onlookers present at the spot, blazes from saltines prompted the flame.
The incident occurred at Kwality Furniture showroom situated near the Saptasati Temple in Palasuni.
Though the police and fire tenders rushed to the spot, the blaze was so severe that it took 3 hours to bring it under control, informed sources.
Though no casualties were reported, seven inmates of nearby girls’ hostel were taken ill after smoke from the shop engulfed their premises, said sources.
