personally I don't think girl wwx wld be very feminine even tho canon wwx plays around w it. like I think wwx's relationship to gender is fairly consistent across the board. I like to think girl lwj wld be high femme tho hehe

xy and xxc are kind of a dark wangxian foil if you think about it. like yes the songxiao parallels but xy and wwx are already foils due to their background and cultivation and outfits and even personality but also their extreme opposite characters. and like. the themes of deceit and trust and morality - xxc trusted a man he loved and he was betrayed, and died horribly. lwj trusted a man he loved and wwx proved worthy of it, and they lived well. wwx even TRIED to lie about his identity to lwj initially and it doesn't work - lwj knows him too well - and wwx gives up trying pretty immediately bc he also trusts lwj. oh wow I just remembered xxc saying that xxc made him laugh. ow

postcanon is so delicious to me bc wwx brushes off a great deal but both his lives were rife with incredibly specific and extreme trauma that does impact him deeply, like lrb alludes to, and in the novel he acclimates fairly quickly but I like to see fics exploring the process of mentally and emotionally like...learning to have a home he can trust and a truly safe place and person again. and how lwj's patience and support and steadiness - which are core aspects of his character - are such crucial aspects of that process. postcanon wwx is going to be okay 🥺

xy fans were also like ugh yes maybe he did murder and torture a bunch of unarmed people and lied to a blind man and psychologically tormented him into killing himself and was implied to be in an intimate relationship w him under false pretenses (rape by deception btw) but have you CONSIDERED when he was young something bad happened to him 🥺

why aren't there more fics about jin ling slowly unlearning his homophobia after he meets wwx...he's such a brat, it would be a really fun character arc to watch

there's a few points at which my personal preferences diverge from popular aspects of fanon wx and one of them is the preoccupation with marriage and calling each other husbands. I get it in canon and I absolutely understand and respect its significance in the real world but it just never excites me. i like soulmates or lovers 👍
