“Bloody moons,” Remus swore quietly to himself. Last night’s had been an especially bad one. Those happened every so often -- once in a blue moon, one might say, hah-- and would leave him particularly sore and exhausted for a few extra days, appointments and schedule be damned.
He would get up. He would. In a moment, when the room stopped spinning and his bones stopped aching.
“What?” Alicia yanked the headphone from her ear and turned to face the person who’d spoken. “Sorry. I didn’t notice anyone else here.” That’d been the allure of the spot she’d chosen to sit in to begin with.
“Okay, I know we just went through this big undertaking and we’re all still trying to recover, but I kind of thought the Capitol would have at least one Big Belly Burger.”
“Hm.” While the small sound indicated that he may in fact have heard what was said, Leo’s attention stayed caught where it was, brow furrowed in thought as he flicked through the paperwork before him. He only looked up a moment later, apparently remembering that he did in fact have someone standing in his office.
“--Sorry. Been hell, tryin’ to catch up on all this. You were saying?”

The empty training center was eerily quiet as Rose sat on one of the benches, once again lost in her thoughts. This hadn’t exactly been a new scene for her - she’d found herself wandering down to the building in her free time most days, finding comfort in the familiar setting. But even keeping her strength up was becoming an unhelpful distraction, and more often than not the brunette ended up abandoning her workout altogether in favor of finding a corner to wallow in her emotions.
There had been good events since her return, sure. Two of her best friends in the entire world were alive and well, and she couldn’t discount that. But looking at them only reminded her that Lissa was still missing, and even they didn’t have an answer for her whereabouts. Jackson’s sacrifice continuously weighed heavy on her heart, and every day she felt the painful hole the twins’ hatred had left in her soul. It didn’t really help that it seemed like no matter what she did, menial tasks would trigger strange visions of Pietro that left her body aching for the man she’d once felt so much for. But she couldn’t talk about these feelings with any of the people who’d fought to get her back home. She was struggling enough facing her thoughts on her own - no part of Rose believed that she could handle opening up to any of the others and suffering through their useless condolences. Them feeling sorry for her wasn’t going to change the past, and she’d felt enough sorrow for herself to last a lifetime.
So she’d lose herself in the solitude of her emotions, completely unaware of her surroundings. This went against every guardian instinct in her body, of course, but something about being in Alexandria kept her feeling safe enough to drop her guard. This was the case now, as Rose watched her hands roll and unroll a bandage around her bruised knuckles aimlessly. So stuck in her own head, she hadn’t even noticed the other person enter the facility.
