A Call to Arms. #Powys #Wales #sayNOtowindfarms #Cymru
I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing held sacred anymore in this world of endlessly growing consumption, fueled by the greed of a minority and their pursuit of wealth by any means. Many of you may not have heard what the Welsh Government and Powys are now planning for us, the people of Breconshire and Radnorshire. Design Thinking for Success
1. Empathize: Learn what the issues are.
2. Define the problem: Which question are you going to answer?
3. Ideate: Generate possible solutions.
4. Prototype: Abandon perfection and either build your project or develop a plan.
5. Test and get feedback from others.
I just read the most interesting article on design thinking, which essentially means that you can train your brain to be more achievement-oriented by eliminating fear. The five steps include:
1. Empathize: Learn what the issues are.
2. Define the problem: Which question are you going to answer?
3. Ideate: Generate possible solutions.
4. Prototype: Abandon perfection and either build your project or develop a plan.
5. Test and get feedback from others.
This is relevant to everything--from weight loss, to starting a company to--you guess it: the job search! When you’ve found the thing really want to do, but find yourself not doing it, it’s important to explore the reasons why you’re stuck and then take baby steps toward achieving the goal.
I find myself often too intimated to go after my goals and it really bums me out! When I was in my 20s, I did EVERYTHING without fear. But now I feel like there’s more at stake/more to lose and I don’t take as many risks, which means that I’m more timid about achieving my goals. I absolutely hate this! I’m going to order this book and see if it helps. But in the meantime, this article provides some food for thought and if you’re already not in the habit of dissecting your fears and attacking them, perhaps this will help you shed some light. You’ll find I write a lot about achieving goals on this blog and it’s because I 100% believe that goal achievement is a big part of not only the job search but also job/life satisfaction in general. It’s important to know what makes you happy so that you can make a plan to achieve those things. Without knowing what floats your boat, you’ll just find yourself lost at sea!
