December 26 marks a historic anniversary for the Filipino masses and oppressed people around the world. While the Filipino people have militantly defended land and resources against oppressors for centuries, this struggle found firm ground and clear orientation fifty years ago through the re-establishment of the Communist Party of the Philippines on December 26, 1968 and unification with the New People’s Army just months later. It is because of the application of revolutionary theory of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and unflinching courage to adhere to its principles that the people’s struggle has not just endured but advanced like wildfire, improving and transforming countless lives. Anakbayan New York sends warm regards to all those fighting for the liberation and welfare of the Filipino people. We remember freedom fighters and commemorate youth activists who have devoted their lives to serving the people to their last breath, from the Kabataan Makabayan to Anakbayan to all those who give up their lives to wage armed struggle in the countryside. Fifty one years and beyond truly show that the future is bright: the yoke of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism is breaking because the masses enthusiastically continue the long legacy of struggle with precision and clarity. As youth, we must always remember this tremendous history and continually seek inspiration from the words of our wise revolutionaries: “Only through militant struggle can the best in youth emerge. Only through the struggle can become more evident the constant replenishment of the fighting forces by the ceaseless flow of new blood.” – Jose Maria Sison LONG LIVE 51 YEARS OF REVOLUTION!
