makes me so made whenever someone is like 'i'm allergic to this ingredient but i want to make [x] type of dish what would you recommend i do?' on reddit and all the top responses are just like 'just omit it!' even when the ingredient gives significant texture/flavor/chemistry contributions to the dish at hand.
like i know it can be hard to respond when someone asks in a generic sense for a wide variety of recipes where the ingredient can be doing different things in each and you personally might not have experience making that substitution.
but jeez. either brainstorm using your cooking knowledge some ideas for what they could experiment with in different contexts or just don't respond. surely they've thought about omitting it already lmao
officially for real pushing 30 today (27th birthday)
had to work way harder to make it happen than i shouldve had to because of a ridiculous series of work issues so i'm exhausted now but also i'm sooooo happy, despite everything, making sushi with the kids i work with went really well and they had fun putting it all together and experimenting with different combos after practicing with some basic rolls i showed them and i got a bunch of kids who've been kinda picky in other contexts to excitedly try and enjoy stuff like eel and tobiko and raw tuna today and they were excited that there was enough of all of it for them all to make a full meal out of it :)
sometimes i see a post that's upsetting on both a political and personal trauma level and i feel a need to try to clearly articulate an argument against that viewpoint
but in my attempts at balancing all the factors going into fairly and logically talking about something on the internet i have emotional stake in immediately prompted by a specific post (but representative of a wider rhetorical trend i oppose) where i have relevant anecdotal experience that perhaps could be connected to a wider more structurally focused argument, my drafts end up oscillating wildly between "falsehoods aren't true" and "i am going to kill myself in front of you"

the witch hat subreddit is generally better than some other manga subreddits i've been in probably thanks to not being battle shonen and having girls as protagonists which eliminates some of the immediate types of misogynists and related stupid overt bigot fans
but i'm just really amused whenever i see people being like "stop making olruggio and qifrey gay!!!! they're just best friends let them be friends, we'd see them together if they were gay!!!"
when there's the most obvious canonically supported reasoning for that being the case in the world lol
reading witch hat kitchen is so funny to me this time around. so true to my late 20s experience
like. cooking is one of my favorite hobbies and then also i have to prep at home to prepare to teach middle schoolers about it at work and fitting cooking for fun around cooking for necessity often means staying up late to make a late meal or snack for me and my girlfriend/[bestie/roommate] so i literally am living my life like fuuuuck i ran out of my stock of soups time to marathon meal prep them/oh no i need too have things set up to make [dish] with the kids tomorrow/[literal example from the weeks before i read this chapter] i need to use up that coconut milk and egg yolks so time for a midnight snack with my girlfriend that we'll eat on the couch
like this is literally just how it is lol
or not to be like 'he's just like me for real' after my post earlier today but. this exact scenario has happened to me with a soup before lol
and then combined with that my sleep schedule has started to be a bit more fucked again recently and i'm often reading these chapters late at night after cooking/prepping for class/sitting on the couch with my gf also til relatively late, its like every chapter is calling me out for when i'm up reading it lol
so jealous of everyone able to go to the adolescence of utena showings this week....
WAIT. FUCK. post cancelled i thought the closest one was like 2.5 hours away but i just checked again and now theres one near me all of a sudden...... mayyyybe i can go tonight
