Corpse Party D2: Penalty Game
Been a while since I did one of these, but the PC release of Book of Shadows inspired me to write something Corpse Party-related. So hereās a snippet of a story about a character from Corpse Party D2: The Dragon Mask, taking place roughly around the same time as the opening of Act 3.
Note: I tried to disguise the identity of the narrator to avoid spoilers, just in case the rest of CPD2M comes out one day, but I feel it will be pretty clear anyway. Also note that Act 3 of the game is only in an outline state, so details may change if the game does get finished. Either way, this could be considered spoilery, if youāre worried about that for a postponed fangame.
After watching some videos of the original version of Depths of Despair, Iām tempted to do a stream of the Nightmare Edition. I feel like it fixes a lot of story issues that existed in the original version, but it seems like no one wants to play it. In fact, I had been working on an update to the game about a year ago that I ended up not releasing when I checked the download numbers. (I donāt even remember most of what changed anymore.)
I was curious about: First, which is your less preffered character of the original 5 from the pc 98 corpse party and why?. Secondly, ( if you don't want to answer it , i understand it) which are your preferred pairings in corpse party?. Thirdly: any idea if you will continue CP D2 Dragon mask?
Iām not sure I can single out a specific least favorite character from the original group⦠They all feel fairly well developed considering the relative complexity of the game. The best I can think of is that I wouldnāt want to be in a group with the Mochida siblings if I were in that situation. Yukaās spoiled upbringing means sheād be the hardest to get along with in a survival scenario, and the game heavily implies that Satoshi might have anger problems (with two chances to get locked into the C route, where he gets angry to the point of nearly killing his friends).
Itās been a while since I really thought of pairings/shipping for Corpse Party, so I donāt know if I have any āpreferredā pairings. If anything, I tend to end up thinking of crack pairings. Like the times I wrote multi-chapter stories about Yoshiki/Naho and Seiko/Sakutaro, and some subtle crack ship teasing in the CPD2 games. One of the few serious ones I remember is Emi/Tohko, since I wrote a number of scrapped stories about that pairing.
As for the Dragon Mask⦠thatās a bit of a can of worms. The short answer is āIām not sure if Iāll get back to it.ā I have the whole story outlined, but I hesitate to put the effort in to actually write the script. And unless an artist volunteers, itāll remain a glorified text adventure with music. Iām a bit afraid to go into details about why Iām not sure Iāll continue, but since someone asked, maybe I should at least give some of the reasons. I just worry about how my reasoning looks to othersā¦
At any rate, details under a read more cut. It might get long.
Thanks for answering my question ( i noticed that It felt similar to ending C of the PC 98 Game . I was curious about something: where did the idea from fatal operation stem from: from dead patient, or the idea of explaining what happened to seiko's mother ( which i always found to be missed potencial), giving seiko Focus as a character or something else? Because honestly i LOVE this game, and i felt kinda apathetic about Dead patient
This got a little longer than expected, so Iāll put it under a read more. There might be a few minor spoilers for Fatal Operation within.

Dephts of despair? problerms to open? Nah not me... Anyway, Youre said that intrest/download at these games are... low?
Problems opening the game could be related to OS issues or file corruption, but itās hard for me to tell without more information. But youāre right that it shouldnāt be hard to open... Iām not sure what sort of problem was affecting the user that asked that.
The second part of your message made me decide to re-run my download stats to see what has changed since April. I also decided to collect some stats on other information relating to interest in the CPD2 series. Iām not the best at deriving information from these kinds of statistics, but I think some of them are clear enough that even I canāt be wrong in figuring out what they mean. Details behind a read more for length.
2017 Status Update
Responding to a multi-part message:
Now that I think about it (this might sound weird), in Fatal operation, is there any reason why Seiko didn't confess to Naomi, even after 6 years?
I meant Seiko in depths of despair.
The best way to explain this is that there was never really a good time. The years following Satoshi's death were rough on Naomi, and so Seiko wouldn't have felt like it was the proper time when Naomi was still actively grieving. And then Naomi went on to college and nursing school while Seiko got a job, so she wouldn't have wanted to risk the time they did have together with a potentially drastic shift in the relationship. Between Naomi's trauma and their accelerating schedules, Seiko would have needed a particularly dramatic shakeup to decide to confess to Naomi. Otherwise, she'd want to wait and hope that a better opportunity presented itself in time, an opportunity that wouldn't risk the friendship.
So that's the way I figure it worked to get to where things are in Depths of Despair, with the two still good friends but with Seiko still hiding her real feelings. Hopefully that helps explain things a bit.
