Wim T. Schipper died yesterday. The Dutch voice of Ernie and count Count (Sesame street). But he was not just a voice actor. He was also an artist. A very weird artist.
The point of many of his works and theater pieces was that life is absurd. So art should be absurd too.
So this is one installation. The peanut butter floor. Which is a floor made of peanut butter. (I KNOW RIGHT?!) A museum in Rotterdam bought this piece decades ago. They are going to show it again (make it again because they own the concept) to honour Wim T. Schipper. The dimensions are allowed to be different, but it has to be a floor and they have to use peanut butter without chunks.
That last part is my favourite part of today's news. Wim was flexibel about the size and shape of the floor but not the consistency of the peanut butter.
As someone who finds the smell awful I will not go to see this exhibit.
