I just saw this post about a reincarnation au idea where people knew their own past lives, and there was some degree of public knowledge, but also a degree of privacy because people could doxx each others past life history. Which of course got me thinking.
A) What if there was one notable figure who to this day has never been reincarnated? Like, a Mother Theresa type figure who has been searched for since her death but hasn't been reincarnated. Some people speculate that figures like that don't reincarnate until the world needs them, when humanity most needs the reminder to be good.
B) what if the past life history is a service? You have to pay to be scanned or read by machines/past life specialists who are officials of the state and are the only ones whose results are recorded and considered valid?
C) what if, in a supercorp au, Lena doesn't get read for the longest time? The Luthors all have theirs done (and then buried when the results are unfavorable in public opinion), but they don't bother getting Lena done because they assume she's not special enough?
D) what if she eventually gets it done, but she too has it buried, and continues to act as though she doesn't know. But someone doxxes her, and it's revealed that she's the first recorded reincarnation of said saintly public figure.
Kara would be thrilled, like 'see? she's amazing I've been telling you for years...' but everyone else loses their goddamn minds because clearly it must be fake bc that reincarnation would never be born into that family and would never have made the mistakes Lena has and if she is X person why hasn't she done more to help people than she already has?
And THEN there are the people whose claims on that reincarnation are oited as frauds, which paints a target on her back, and then ON TOP OF THAT if it's a religious figure (or a figure appropriated by religion), then she has various religious institutions hounding her in an attempt to either recruit her or destroy her, because the church/cult whatever made up their own canon for X person and Lena's ability to tell the real story is a threat to their power and influence.
But then also imagine the people who knew X person while they were alive, and all their reincarnations start reaching out to say hey, and it's almost kind of like having instant friends because 'hey, remember the time we ran from the Romans and hid in a goat cart? that shit was lit.'
