To Mercury, the Beggar-Prince
O Wandering Minister, O Lord of Luck, O Councillor to the Lost
We rejoice to see your twinkling eye upon us
We scan the skies at night to catch you peeking over the horizon
We play the Game of Games in your honor
We sing the Song of Our People, and know that you sing with us We give freely our favor to the beggar, so that you need not favor the thief
Road-keeper, way-finder, stealer of secrets and maker of keys
We share, laugh, dance, and dice in your name
Our table is your table, our fire is your fire,
When we are without food, O Mercury, fill our bellies with laughter
When we are without fire, warm us by the bodies of our kin
When we are without wine, dull our minds with the solace of sleep
Give us your blessings, that the world be less cruel
Give us your kindness, to carry forth this blessing to others
Prince of Beggars! King of Thieves! Lord of Masks!
Hail!
