The Broken Kingdom series by LJ Andrews is one of my favorite series I've read this year. It's one of my "Booktok made me do it" buys. Please, if you like fantasy romance and stabby people, nobody sleep on this one! I don't have a single book in this series I would rate below 4 stars.
It's like a fantasy Viking setting which I don't know if I've read before. It has great action and more decent representation than I usually read in this genre (gay rep, POC rep, a few characters with disabilities, etc). The romance is great but some might find the spice lacking, especially in the first set of three books.
My only kind of major criticism is the fact that some world building things aren't really explained...ever. You just sort of have to accept what she shows you and not ask questions.
The couple for the first three books was cute. I loved their story and I would love to see them in future books (which I think we will!!) but the second couple, in the last three books (third coming next year) is my favorite of the two.
For spoiler purposes, all I'll say is Legion is cute and he's firmly on my book boyfriend/girlfriend list, but Kase is just incredible. I love grumpy shadow man!!
