Erris' face creased with concern, lips pursed tight with a form of sadness. This wasn't fair. Destroying Orin was one thing - she was merciless and in their way of saving this flea-bitten city. But Rowan? She was like him...
"...I won't fight you, Rowan." He threw down his dual blades, not even blinking as the clattered noisily against the cold, blood soaked stone. "I stand before our Father, and I say no. I can't do it... I can understand if you want to. I've not been the best person to you... I'd rather die then pierce your belly." He outstretched his arms out in pure surrender, but also accepting what may well happen here. "I'm not afraid of death, if that is what you want for me."
(- corvus-bound. Figured I'd give you a free insight to what he's like in Act 3 since poor Rowan has put up with his BS so much XD)
She stared at him in shock, he would not fight? He would just let her win? She always had favored the path of least resistance, and now that path was even clearer than ever. It would be easy to return to what she was meant to be. Bhaal’s chosen, his will, his whims, and nothing more; especially not Rowan. Things would be different this time: no Gortash harming her yet loving her, if he did love her she wasn’t sure anymore, no Orin with a knife to her head and no more struggle to go against her urge… and she was so tired of struggling.
But then again: no more friends either. Her companions, who had struggled beside her, would be gone. No more friendly faces of people they had met. No more nights around campfires or inside jokes or anything. And no more Rowan, a Druid who wove things out of grass and collected small mementos from their journey, she would be gone too, and she didn’t want to say goodbye to herself.
But who was she against him? Who was she without him? She was nothing before him, he crafted her for his own machinations— what purpose could she have outside of him? How could she stand against a god?
Yet Erris had done it… in the face of death he had defied their father’s will. Death was easier in a way, but what would become of him after she killed him? Would Bhaal collect his soul? The Raven Queen, perhaps? Some other god who wanted to show that they had seen Erris defiance and that it had mattered? Even if it didn’t matter to any god it mattered still.
“No. I don’t want to.” She managed to say before she looked down into the blood, at Bhaal’s avatar. As she looked into his glowing eyes she was suddenly filled with fire, adrenaline and vitriol that could not be held back,
“I don’t want things to go back to how they were! I don’t want to be nothing! I want to travel the world beyond the sword coast and experience nature in lands I’ve never seen! I want to visit and be with my friends! But most of all: I want you out of my HEAD!”
