I am literally clawing at the walls. I remember a fic that featured something like a witch Corvo, who left Dunwall after the murder of Jessamine and the apparent death of Emily. However, Emily was alive and taken in by Daud, who trained her among the Whalers. Daud regretted his actions and also left Dunwall with the Whalers. They met again some years later. Corvo could communicate with crows, I think? I believe it was Corvo x Daud as well. I canât find anything and I am desperate, was it a fever dream? Please help.

If so royal is my name
A blessing in disguise
No more suffering, no pain, these days
Waiting for my own golden crown
I can't feel a difference
This low life ends without a tear
Don't say goodbye
All I longed for feels like nothing
Of any meaning in my life
When the night falls
My graceful heart shows
What it tried to hide from you
Fears of breakdown, safe appearance
And I will never lose my faith
I'll rise even higher
No more count in this cold land, they're gone
Austrian empire they named, this reign of men
Bloodline will stay alive, my heir
I'm leaving someday
No reason to turn down this emotion of misery
All I longed for feels like nothing
Of any meaning in my life
When the night falls
My graceful heart shows
What it tried to hide from you
Fears of breakdown, safe appearance
And I will never lose my faith
I'll rise even higher
I belong to a historic reign
My legacy will be recalled
By all the people in this world
I live on
All I wanted feels like nothing of worth
All I longed for feels like nothing
Of any meaning in my life
When the night falls
My graceful heart shows
What it tried to hide from you
Fears of breakdown, safe appearance
And I will never lose my faith
I'll rise even higher, higherÂ

2. âHave you lost your damn mind!?â & 9. âDonât you ever do that again!â
Daud didnât bother with knocking these days. Corvo had told him countless times that if the door was unlocked, he was welcome to come in, but it wasnât until Corvo had confessed that it was a pain to get the door every time that Daud had taken the words to heart.
The door to Corvoâs quarters opened now with unusual force, actually rebounding off the wall as Daud burst in. He was wild-eyed, a lock of hair flopping down before his face; he pushed it aside impatiently and kicked the door shut behind himself.
Corvo raised an eyebrow at him, mildly alarmedâ but he made no move to rise from the comfortable armchair in which he was ensconced with a book.
âHave you lost your damn mind?!â Daudâs shout echoed around the room, the only sound apart from the intermittent popping of the fire and his carpet-muffled footsteps as he stalked up to Corvo.
Corvo stared at him patiently, setting his book aside to show Daud that he had his full attention.
Daud came to a halt before him; his cheeks were faintly flushed, and he was breathing rather hard. It certainly wasnât the first time heâd looked like that in Corvoâs room before, but usually he was in some state of undress as well.
When Daud only stared back, Corvo pulled out his notebook and a tiny stub of a pencil. He bit back a sigh, remembering all over again that he needed to get a new one. It could wait for a time when Daud wasnât acting so erratically, though. He flipped to the first clean page and started to write: whatâ
âSign it to me,â Daud said abruptly, before he could finish writing. He had the annoying habit of reading Corvoâs words upside down when he had the opportunity, and responding before Corvo could finish if he was impatient enough.
Corvo looked back up at him blankly. Daud didnât know how to sign.
âSign it to me,â Daud repeated slowly, his hands moving clumsily through the corresponding symbols as he spoke.
Suddenly, Corvo knew all too well what had gotten Daud so worked up. He felt heat rush to his own face; he hadnât known Daud was learning sign, if he had heâ Well, he wouldnât have stopped, but a bit of warning would have been nice all the same.
Who taught you? Corvo signed, then did so again at a slower speed when Daudâs brows pinched together in incomprehension.
Daud scowled when he deciphered the gestures. âEmily and Cleon.â Corvo recognized the second name as one of Daudâs Whalersâ one of the few who knew how to sign as well. That made sense, though Emilyâs involvement surprised him. âThatâs not what you were going to ask me, though.â Daudâs gaze flicked to the notebook lying abandoned on Corvoâs lap, then back up to his face.
I think I know what is wrong now.
Daudâs scowl deepened at that. âItâs notâ wrong.â He ground out the last word like it physically pained him, which certainly suggested that he had just lied. Corvo just leveled an unimpressed look at him. Daud crossed his arms over his chest. âI just donât know how to deal with this new knowledge.â
Knowing bothers you?
âYes. No!â Daud amended quickly. âItâs unexpected and I. Should have waited. Before coming back here.â
It mightâve been entertaining to witness Daudâs agitation under other circumstances; he was usually so self-contained, otherwise. As it was, Corvo only felt sick to his stomach.
âIâm fucking this up, as usual,â Daud muttered, stepping back. He paced a few steps toward the fire, then back again.
If the idea is so upsetting to you, Corvo began, and then didnât know where to go from there.
âItâs not!â Daud crossed the space between them in swift strides, dropping to his knees. He seemed in earnest. âIâ I donât understand,â he said, his hands closing around Corvoâs. âHow you canâ After all Iâve doneââ His grip tightened when Corvo tried to pull away.
Corvo freed his hands, fixing Daud with an annoyed look now. He didnât acknowledge Daudâs guilty, muttered apology when he realized heâd been preventing Corvo from replying. I know what youâve done. I meant what I said. When Daud opened his mouth to reply, Corvo just held up his right hand. With deliberate slowness, staring Daud down all the while, he lowered his middle and ring fingers: I love you.
Daud ducked his head, but Corvo had already gotten a glimpse of his startled, open expression. Even now, Corvo could see the flushed skin at the back of his neck. Daud groaned in obvious embarrassment and resisted when Corvo tugged pointedly at his hair.
âI feel the same,â he said, looking back up. âShit. It doesnât come out the same if I donât actually say the words.â He licked his lips. âI do love you. Even if it sounds like Iâm only saying it becauseââ
Shut up. Corvo covered his mouth before Daud could ruin the moment any further, then pulled him into a kiss. Daud resisted at first, but when he had finally gone pliant and breathless beneath him, Corvo leaned back.
Do not ever do that again. E-V-E-R, he added, spelling the word out for emphasis.
Daud grinned up at him. âWhat, tell you I love you?â
Corvo narrowed his eyes. You know what I mean. Beloved, he added impulsively.
âWhat does that sign mean?â Daud mimicked the gesture.
Corvo shrugged, smiling, and refused to tell Daud no matter how he pestered him about itâ Daud hated a mystery, after all. Worth it, for what Daud had put him through earlier.
Ooooh that was great! Another prompt: overseer!Corvo x Daud getting cockblocked... again. I love your overseer!AU <3

Sneaking into the Office of the High Overseer was the height of foolishness, but what was one more mistake among many? Daud had already killed an Empress. This particular brand of stupidity could hardly compare.
Heâd passed through theses halls before, all but one of those times at the behest of the former High Overseer. Campbell had little patience for men whose ambitions or weaknesses he could not exploit, and when conventional methods failed he turned to Daud to make up the difference.
The room Daud sought now was tucked away in the bowels of the Office, one of the more private rooms reserved for senior Overseers. It still lacked a lock, like the dormitories in the backyard, and was furnished sparsely, but that was the Abbey all over - deprivation of comfort and privacy was to be expected.
Corvo lay on the bed, his absurdly long hair splayed across the thin excuse for a pillow. He looked younger in repose, the harsh lines of anger and disdain softened in sleep. Daud stifled the urge to reach out, which was fortunate; Corvo stirred not a moment later, jerking into full alertness in a span of seconds.
The silence dragged out as Daud stared at Corvo. The blankets pooled in his lap, but even so there was a lot of bare, tantalizing skin on display. Did he sleep entirely nude? Daud hated mysteries, and he intended to find out.
âWhat are you doing here?â Corvoâs question broke the silence, but he didnât sound angry, merely confused. Promising.
Admitting it aloud would have been too revealing, so Daud simply leaned down and kissed him instead. As before, Corvo remained still for the space of a breath before reciprocating, the eager way that he pulled Daud onto the bed beside him belying his earlier hesitation. He moaned when Daud nipped at his lower lip but bit him right back, sharing the copper tang of blood between them.
The cot was a tight fit for one person, never mind two grown men; Daud pushed Corvo onto his back and settled over his hips, sitting back to admire the flush of Corvoâs face. And neck. And chest. It only seemed to spread the longer Daud stared at him, and he planted one gloved hand in the centre of Corvoâs chest when the Overseer made to sit up. He hadnât been able to get a good look at Corvo before.
âTake these off,â Corvo said, tugging at the thick cuff of the glove. âI want you to fuck me.â
Daud groaned at the mental image that conjured - Corvo spread wide beneath him, his own cock leaking over his stomach, begging Daud to fuck him harder. Daud fumbled his gloves off with clumsy, jerking movements, hindered in his task by Corvo trying to divest him of his bandolier and coat.
âDaud,â Corvo said, in strange voice.
He gave up on finesse, undoing the fastening of his trousers with one bare and one gloved handâ
ââDaud!â
Daud flinched awake, his hand going for the blade he kept nearby. He relaxed marginally when the figure at his bedside resolved into one of his whalers. The lack of imminent threat didnât stop him from glaring and barking out a harsh âWhat?â however.
âThomas is back with news about Stride,â the whaler said. âHeâs waiting for you downstairs.â He saluted and disappeared without another word.
Daud exhaled heavily, rubbing a hand over his face. The embarrassment of being woken in the midst of a sex dream by one of his subordinates was enough to kill his arousal; he only hoped the whaler hadnât noticed anything out of the ordinary, or that he wasnât the type to gossip about it if he had. Daud had been too out of sorts to discern his identity by voice and build.
âStride,â he muttered to himself, a reminder, as he shoved the blankets down. âDelilah.â Some heretic Overseer had no place in his thoughts, much less his dreams. He stood and went to prepare for the day.

[in my mind, this takes place an unspecified amount of time after the events of âmake a shadow of yourselfâ, my Overseer!Corvo AU, but you donât need to read the fic to read this.
Iâm also still taking prompts for short fics! you can choose from a list or just send me in your own.]
âAre you ever going to finish reading those reports?â
Even now, beyond the trappings of that infuriating mask and the ingrained stoicism, it was hard to read Corvo. Not as difficult as it once was, the familiarity between the two of them allowing guards to fall and habits to be learned, but Corvo tended towards restraint and self-control. Fitting, for an Overseer. But if Daud wasnât mistaken, there was an annoyed note in Corvoâs otherwise emotionless voice.
Daud glanced up from the reports in question. It concerned the Boyle family, and certain rumours regarding the involvement of one of the sisters with former, now-deposed Regent Burrows; frustration over the whalersâ inability to discern which sister had caused him to fixate and forget about his guest. Not that he intended to admit as much.
âCome over here and make me.â Daud didnât bother to suppress his smirk.
Predictably, Corvoâs eyes narrowed. Unpredictably, he merely remained where he was, blatantly looking over reports Daud had viewed earlier that day. âI can wait.â His tone made it clear he definitely wasnât pleased to be made to wait, but he didnât attempt to rectify the issue either. So it was his own damn fault.
Keeping his own frustration hidden, Daud shrugged and returned to the reports. âI appreciate your understanding,â he said, sardonic.
âAsshole,â he heard Corvo mutter, but the former Overseer still didnât move any closer. After a few minutes, he resumed muttering to himself; at first Daud mistook it for further (absolutely unjustified, of course) maligning of his character, but as he caught more of the words, he realized that Corvo was reciting the Strictures.
It grated at Daud, that Corvo still recited them. His association with the Abbey of the Everyman had ended, and heâd borne the Outsiderâs mark for even longer. Even before Daud had come to Dunwall or been marked, heâd had a poor opinion of the Abbey; his opinion only worsened when he saw how it tried to lord over the people of Gristol. Its hold had been much weaker in Serkonos, though not so weak that it had let someone as singular as Corvo Attano escape its grasp.
Daud wondered, in idle hours that he later scolded himself for, what might have been if Corvo hadnât become an Overseer. If heâd been the Royal Protector to the previous Empress as well. If Daud had met him in Serkonos, or recruited him in Dunwall. All that loyalty turned to a person, not a faith; he was certainly devoted enough to Empress Emilyâ
But it wasnât to be. Corvo had been claimed by the Abbey first. Even if he didnât believe in the institution itself, he seemed to genuinely believe in the Strictures. So Daud said nothing about it. Restricted his lying tongue, as it were. He hated that he even knew that much of the Strictures.
Corvo didnât even seem to be aware of it most of the time, muttering them under his breath after a particularly trying event. He also recited them at night, before he went to sleep. Daud hated that he knew that much about Corvo too; he still wasnât certain how to characterize the nature of their relationship, but knowing how Corvo prepared himself for sleep was almost too intimate for him to bear.
âWill you stop reciting those damn strictures?â The words came out more harshly than Daud intended; the reports prepared so diligently by his scouts were crumpled in his hands. Heâd stopped paying attention to them entirely around the time Corvoâd started reciting the Third.
At least half of his irritation was at himself for being soâ foolish. His position was untenable. The murderer of the previous Empress had no business doing whatever this was with the Royal Protector of the current Empress, never mind that he was a heretic and Corvo was still an Overseer in the ways that mattered.
Corvo just smirked at him, unruffled by his agitation. Triumphant, even. Whyâ?
âCome over and make me,â Corvo said in a blatant imitation of Daudâs voice, raising his chin in challenge.
Daud tried not to show the thrill of mingled frustration and arousal the words sent through him, and did, crossing the warped floorboards of his shitty office in a single transversal to kiss that infuriating, cocky look off Corvoâs face.
