i’m pretty neutral about amnesia plots, sickfics, and ‘there was only one bed’ ^^

31. What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?

‘fixing the fall’, my canon divergent ongoing fic, is probably the hardest by default! lots of moving parts

delirious, furiously, thrumming, on instinct, wide-eyed, skull cracking against something, etc etc

i looked through all my active wips for the funniest possible line to include here (nsfw):

17. talk about your writing and editing process

there are some (usually long) fics i plan out really meticulously from the start, that need really detailed outlines and charts and lists, and that i have really set goals for. "fixing the fall" is one of these! my notes are miles long, my outline is extensive, i scene block before i write, and i’m rubbing my hands together evilly with every plot point i set up

some fics are spontaneous, and i just let them write themselves as instinct dictates ^^ my most recent silly crackfic “what to expect when you’re eggspecting” is one of these. i had a few lines pre-written from brainstorming, but overall it was a quick linear write i didn’t think about too deeply. fun in its own way!

most fics are probably somewhere in the middle for me. “dog days” for example had a rough outline and a decent amount of notes, but i kept shuffling scenes around as i went; originally, the conversation at the end of chapter 2 (the “you don’t know what you want” bit, if you’ve read it) was going to be much later, and the ann conversation in chapter 3 was going to be much earlier. chapter 1 was relatively easy and instinctual, but i had to work a little harder to make it work after that ^^

i edit a bit as i go, but most of my editing probably happens between my first and second draft, where i rewrite if not most of the fic then at least huge huge chunks of it. i sweep for basic stuff like grammar and syntax after that, though it’s not as fun as structural editing, so i’m not really too strict about it. you’ll probably find a lot of repeating words and noun/verb disagreement in my fics if you look hard enough <3

i don’t actually keep that many, but here’s a deleted nsfw excerpt from "sanguine / saccharine" (canon compliant f/f akeshu) under the cut! it ended up being a lot sweeter and more openly intimate than what i was going for ^^
