hold my issues up for all to see like show and tell ; lotta people know me, but, not a lot know me well.
Lyrics, that was his first thought. Sad lyrics, but ones that he knew most definitely fit how Cayde behaved…. Around other people, for the most part. Out in public where he can make people laugh and groan. No, they’ve found themselves to be alone at the moment. ( Is that why he’s saying this? Don’t worry friend, no secrets escape me. )
He drew in a long yet shallow vent, eyes flitting to everywhere but Cayde as he processed a response to it. ( Do I know you well? ) Fingers drummed against his own forearms and he pulled his sight back up to his friend, soft green gazing back at vibrant blue.
“I can understand why.” His voice was lowered, quieter and softer, something more serious but at the same time caring. “I get not wanting to appear more vulnerable in front of others in fear of being judged. But right now, this isn’t between a Vanguard leader and sniper. This is between friends, and you know what friends do?”
He shuffled a bit from where he sat and turned to face Cayde better, legs propped up with arms draped over his calves, leaning his head on his knee and showing a gentle, kind expression.
“They help you pull past the heavy experiences you can’t carry on your own. I… I guess what I’m getting at is that… I’m here for ya, alright?”
