Went out on a limb and tried making Cornish hen! It turned out...okay, I think? The garlic-butter infused breast was really tasty but the rest was just okay. BUT it was the most on-the-bone meat I've ever eaten without gagging so there's some improvement there!! :D

So goddam pleased with myself.
I've never completed a recipe this complex before. I've never made a poultry dish from scratch before.
I'd probably do some things differently next time, but overall? I just made myself a successful Christmas dinner 100% independently. I am full and content.
Made PLENTY to have leftovers for a few days. Well, of the stewish veggies. The other cornish hen will a thousand percent be demolished tomorrow. The first one was so damn good. I took a tiny bite to check, and woke up from a trance several minutes later with naught but bone, skin, and fat on my plate.
Am I waxing poetic? Maybe. But hey, you gotta celebrate your accomplishments. And for me, this was a big one. I don't cook, generally, so any time I do it's a bit nerve wracking.
I'm gonna go lie down about it.
