Today is usually a day that I can't wait for but this year it brings mixed emotions. This is the first St. Patrick's Day without both of my grandparents. This was their holiday especially my grandfather. I had to make my grandmothers corn beef and cabbage recipe without her here to help me. She usually got the first bite and would act like it was the best tasting thing because she knew how nervous I was about not messing it up. So while I am excited it is here I just wish they were here with me to celebrate another one. I miss them both so much. How was everyone else's day? Is this a big day for your family and if so what do you usually do?

Putting this pot of gold together!! growing up in a very diverse multicultural house I get the benefit of enjoying all types of food, culture, holidays and traditions. My stepdad Irish, St. Patrick’s Day is more than just beer and kisses. It’s history. So as I make corn beef and cabbage for the family (step dad waiting patiently over the stove for his cornbread to be done) I am wishing everyone a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day enjoy the drinks but eat the meal with family and listen to the stories before they’re all gone....
