I think the fact that Ricky conceded was less him not wanting to go back to his life and more him being the most genuinely empathetic out of the cult.
Sure, he faced horrendous ableism, but he clearly concedes because voting for himself would be a dick move. Why? Heâs observant. Heâs always watching the others. He understands their individual dreams and personalities. He wouldnât be able to live with himself if he had survived and the others, who he had gotten to know so well, had not.
