BIOGRAPHY (Trigger Warning: Death and Sickness)
- born in Dallas, Texas, to a doting mother and a successful business father. They have a seemingly idyllic relationship to the outside world - though Cora knows otherwise - and the fractures in their relationship become apparent when they divorce around Cora’s fourteenth birthday.
- when they divorce, Elise Whittaker (Cora’s aunt and Lily Whittaker’s mother) reaches out in support and Penelope Covington opts to take Cora and move to King’s Head Harbour. Derek stays behind, continues his business and engulfs the prospects of his new single life.
- at fourteen, Cora attends a new school and begins her new life amongst her King’s Head peers. She’s well-liked, joins the Cheerleading squad and discovers her true passions lie in the Science fairs. Her school years are where she first masters the ability to balance multiple aspects of her life and revels in the challenges that they bring.
- at eighteen, Cora’s mother passes from an illness she has battled for several years. It’s an incredibly painful time and the overwhelming grief is magnified as Cora successfully accomplishes her dreams alone. She shuts out those she once held close and permits the world to sharpen her smooth edges. When her father catches wind of the death, he reaches out and offers her ample money to keep her afloat. She abruptly declines and only welcomes his visits during the festive seasons. Her relationship with her father strains further and further with each new woman attached to his arm.
- with the looming reality of bills and student loans, a friend introduces her to the line of sex work and she’s quick to join. Whilst her preference is in exotic dancing, Cora has dabbled in all of its forms over the years.
- Cora has just completed her last year of residency in general surgery and has now begun her two-year trauma fellowship to become a fully-fledged trauma surgeon. As she continues to make a name for herself within her medical career, she’s now left contemplating her other occupation and the reality of the judgement that is attached to it. Whilst she has been able to prevent the two from mixing, Cora is aware that it could potentially destroy her career in medicine and fully intends on easing away from a part-time profession she grew to love.
