They would look good together. That was the sole basis of his choice when Feliks had basically demanded that Kuroo take him to the ball. They weren’t exactly close as friends, but the blond had decided that the aesthetically pleasing difference in height, the contrast of their features and the fact that both were decently attractive would make them a perfect match for the ball. ... Because to him, image was everything and he needed a perfect escort at least for his entrance and exit, anything Kuroo did in between he wasn’t exactly concerned with... As long as they looked good enough to be seen.

That being said, his offer hadn’t come without bait and bait was easily taken. An offer to purchase a new suit, and a day at the salon to get the unruly head of hair the captain sported ‘tamed’ had been his choice of bribe and Kuroo had easily accepted.

So it was how he found himself, arms crossed, standing in the middle of Kuroo’s dorm room waiting for the male to stop staring at himself in the mirror, something he’d been engrossed with since they got back from the salon.

Chaperoning.

It was something that Koumei didn't exactly want to do; he had no desire to spend his evening watching a hall full of drunken twenty year olds groping each other in the dark. Frankly, he didn't understand why students who were basically adults needed to be chaperoned in the first place, but he had a feeling he was watching over the building more than the students in it.... Regardless, the Astronomy professor found himself leaning against the wall near the back of the hall; watching throngs of bodies moving through the dark like schools of fish... Checking his watch constantly in hopes that he was getting closer to going home... But it seemed like the minutes were all but crawling by.

Turning his attention down to the cup in his hand, he noted that the soda he'd been nursing for nearly two hours was all but empty... Seeing as refilling would give him something to do to kill some time he pushed himself off the wall, moving at his lethargic pace towards where a small table selling refreshments was set up and slid his cup across the wooden surface, grateful that his refreshments were on the house in exchange for volunteering his time that night.

As the man turned his attention away from the table a familiar face caught his eye, one that wasn't from one of his lecture halls. The long hair and dark eyes were striking, and he couldn't help but wonder if it was because once more they were meeting in the dark; but regardless the man before him was clearly the same man who had kept him company that night on the grounds of sunset. Despite having spent a majority of the night with the man he hadn’t expected to see him again.

Making his way to the other he had a feeling that the Sunset professor was in the same boat he was, but a little company might make the night easier to bear. 

Curiosity was a terrible thing. It made people do things that they wouldn’t normally consider otherwise, such as attending a Valentine’s Ball instead of curling up in a comfortable chair with a good book and a cup of tea. Such was the nature of Reika’s problem.

She was curious...

It would be all too easy to blame her attendance at the dance on her grandparents and their desire to see her have an enjoyable university experience and get out more but there was more too it than that. Part of the fascination was the event itself, for she had never been to a social gathering quite like it before, but there was equal allure in setting foot on the Sunrise campus and seeing how it differed from that of Sunset University.

It certainly was a sight to behold...

The young brunette had followed on the tail of a crowd entering the gym although she stopped not too far from the doorway so she could take it all in. Resplendent decorations were draping from the walls and ceiling, set to glittering as the light from the disco ball flickered from overhead. Various couples were clustered around the refreshment tables while others made the most of the dance floor and the romantic music wafting from the speakers. She had to smile in amusement at some of the couple’s attempts at dancing, the uncoordinated enthusiasm a far cry from the elegance required.

This promises to be an entertaining evening...

Sometimes Lovino had to question his own decision-making skills. The flyers around campus advertised exactly what he wanted to avoid: a Valentine's dance. Lovino abhorred dances. There were far too many people, the music was turned up way to high and there was nothing that can ruin your day like being stuck in a room full of people you don't know. And yet, despite his hatred of dances, he found himself wearing a suit in the courtyard amongst many others, staring at the decorations in awe.

There was something strange and fantastical about seeing the university dressed in decorations to enforce the romantic mood. It was hard for him to coincide the two images of the university - the serious school compared to the romantic scene - in his head. Lovino, who was a romantic at heart, smiled softly; but the frown returned quickly when he was bumped into by a couple who walked right past him as though he wasn't there. Lovino quietly cursed under his breath. Couldn't the idiots at least look where they were going?

Sighing, Lovino plopped into a seat at a nearby table. Why did he even come here? Ah right, poor decision making. Finally getting a good look at the table, he realized that there was another woman sitting there. She was also alone despite the fact that she looked very pretty. Standing up from his chair, he made his way next to her and offered his hand in an offer to dance.

     ╰☆╮Hajime's nerves were only this frayed before a big match, and even those were easier to stomach than whatever sort of butterflies tumbling around his stomach right now in a mad torrent. The past few hours had been a mess, with him stumbling around his dorm room in an effort to make himself look presentable and tip-top perfect. His hair had been groomed down to the hair, or at least brushed at futilely with vigor that only matched that when he geared up for a perfect spike between the opposing team’s blockers during a tough match. The black suit he had managed to scavenge out of an unpacked box, from a year ago when he had attended a wedding, had been ironed out and buttoned up neatly, with a matching tie knotted properly around his neck.

     The ace nervously patted his hair down once more in front of the mirror. It wasn’t an awful mess like he made it out to be, but for Hajime and his angry horde of butterflies, it wasn’t enough. He frowned as he attempted once more to flatten it on to a more presentable look, but gave up after another few seconds of disappointment and failure. Ah, well, it was nighttime, so it wouldn’t be so bad, right?

     Hajime took out his phone and glanced at the time briefly; he still had about ten minutes before their designated meeting time, which was just enough time to slowly walk over to the other’s dorm room and ruminate over all the possible things that could go wrong with today. One thing that would definitely not happen, however, was forgetting the bouquet of flowers he had bought for Tooru, he mused as he set his sights upon the item sitting on top of his study table. With a swift motion, he grabbed the flowers and headed out, making sure to lock the door behind him.

     He was there sooner then he thought, a good three minutes before the time, but it never hurt anybody to be early. Hajime stood outside Tooru’s door, straightened his tie quickly, and knocked.

     Ryoji didn’t have a date. There had been offers, yes, but as a believer in the significance of Valentine’s Day, he couldn’t just accept any old invitation. He believed that it had to be the right person that he went to such a ball with. And yet, he still found himself dressed up and wandering around Sunrise campus. He wore a completely black ensemble, save for the bright yellow tie around his neck. Even though he had a ticket into the dance, Ryoji still hadn’t gone inside, for no reason in particular. Maybe it was because of his tarot reading this morning that he was feeling so hesitant. 

Humming quietly to himself, the boy then spotted another male up ahead, his head down and feet dragging slightly. It was subtle, the way he carried himself as if he had a heart of glass and someone had threatened to shatter it only recently. And when the other looked up to check where he was going, Ryoji caught his gaze and saw what looked like an eternity of sadness captured within. Chocolate eyes that he could only assume were usually milky and sweet looking, instead looked dark and bitter, the kind of chocolate only a select few would pay attention to. 

“Evening!” He greeted, stopping in front of the freckled boy. Now stationary, he could fully appreciate the person in front of him. Ryoji’s lips pulled up into a friendly smile, hands buried in the pockets of his black pants.

hinata readied himself for the time of his life, prepping his tuxedo and trying to tame his hair, but to no avail, considering it was such an uncontrolled mess and even wetted down and blow dried a certain way, nothing seemed to work. he nodded at himself in the mirror, thinking about maybe putting on some concealer on that one small zit on his nose, before he accepted that as a requirement to look good, and did the deed of plastering the makeup on his nose. he had leveled up in handsomeness with that small bit of goodness.

he and kenma had decided to meet up together at the dorm lounge, and hinata was sure kenma had packed his 3ds in case things got to social so he could drown it all out, so hinata slipped his 3ds and games into his pocket before slipping on his new and expensive shoes, ready to be with his cat-like friend who he trusted with every fiber of his being.

when he walked down to the dorm lounge, what he saw astounded him. kenma usually looked amazing, but now kenma had one-upped even hinata himself in good-looking charms. hinata almost turned around right then and there to go change into something more extravagant, but realized he didn’t have anything else, and walked over to kenma, a beaming smile where it always resides.

  “Perhaps I should take a trip to the mall one of these days..” With the thought of the Valentine’s Ball coming up, she needs attire for the event. A suit would work best, considering she doesn’t have much confidence to go through with wearing a dress to the event. 

  Although Naoto’s not big into fashion, and more into her detective-like attire. Therefor she’s not aware of what would be best for a ball. When she was little, she would be taken to detective balls, dressed in little jumpers with her hair combed and styled nicely. She hasn’t been to a ball in ages, so she could use someone’s expertise on dressing for the event.
