Surface Gets Another AI-Focused Refresh
Microsoft has introduced updated versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, continuing its push toward AI-powered PCs. The new devices are built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 processors and are being marketed as faster, more efficient, and better suited for on-device AI tasks than previous generations.
The Surface Pro remains Microsoft's flexible tablet-and-laptop hybrid, while the Surface Laptop is available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes. Microsoft says the new hardware delivers noticeable graphics improvements, longer battery life, and dedicated AI processing through built-in neural processing units. New color options have also been added, including Dune for the Surface Pro and Jade for the Surface Laptop.
The launch is part of Microsoft's broader Copilot+ PC strategy, which aims to bring more AI features directly onto devices instead of relying entirely on cloud services. While the machines offer stronger performance, the refresh also comes with higher prices, reflecting a trend that has been affecting premium PC hardware across the industry.
The Surface line used to be mostly about form factors and design. Now it feels like every new generation is being judged by how much AI hardware it can pack inside. Whether that actually changes how most people use their computers is still the bigger question.
