The town of Mystic Falls had taken it's toll on Enya. When she arrived, she had assumed that it was just another quiet, small town -- one where everyone knew each other's business, but their secrets were well kept within the borders of the city. She had been largely mistaken. Everywhere she turned there were hunters and angels out to destroy the hybrid race, particularly the ones like her that were inexplicable. And to make matters worse, hybrids were pit against each other, and vampires seemed to have a condescending nature to the half-breeds.Β
She was lost in thought, sitting on the park bench, her knees pulled up to her chest. She watched the innocent passers-by, wishing for a moment she could claim their ignorance as her own. She felt her eyes sting with tears, and she cursed at herself for allowing her weakness to show. She quickly wiped her hand against her face, destroying the evidence.Β
The sound of crushing leaves and a sudden thud onto the bench next to her, pulled her out of her dream world. She made eye contact with the person who had slumped down beside her, not saying a word.
