This is what happens when you watch a cop film wherein Luke Evans has the weeist of parts.
Thranduil blinked blearily at the soft knock on his bedroom door. Â He grunted, confused. Â It likely wasnât Legolas. Â The lad had no sense of propriety.
The door creaked open and his partner, Bard, shouldered his way in, bearing a silver tray. Â He smiled faintly. Â âGood. Â Youâre awake.â
âYouâre in my home,â Thranduil rasped, struggling to sit up. Â He wheezed, his side pulling as he did.
Bard set the tray down on the dresser and swatted at him. Â âStop it. Â Youâll tear the stitches.â Â He leaned Thranduil forward, taking most of his weight, as he fluffed the pillows behind him to create a prop.
Startled, Thranduil let him. Â He hadnât expected this. Â He barely remembered what had happened. Â They had located one of the thieves and then gunfire. Â Shot. Â Heâd been shot. Â He turned his head to ask Bard a question, but managed only to take a heady whiff of the manâs cologne.
Sage and smoke. Â Like a banked campfire. Â His pulse spiked and he shoved at Bard, breaking the manâs hold easily and falling back with a thud.
Bard frowned and sighed. Â âYou are a prick, Thranduil. Â Iâm trying to help.â
âI never asked you to,â he grunted. Â He rubbed his face hard, hoping it would hide the heat that had appeared.
His partner rolled his eyes and returned to his tray. Â He brought it to Thranduil and set it in his lap. Â âYouâre lucky, it just ripped up your side instead of through it. Â Doctor said two days bed rest and youâll be right as rain.â Â He plucked a piece of toast from the tray and chewed it. Â âYouâre not leaving this house for a few days so weâll be working from here.â
Thranduilâs hand hovered over the tea cup. Â âBy whose direction?â he demanded, the tone far less imperious when he could barely speak.
Bard grinned and leaned close. Â âMine.â Â He ruffled Thranduilâs hair and moved to the door. Â âIâve made myself comfortable on the couch. Â Donât worry, I promise to set down papers if I need a shit.â
Thranduil flinched when the door shut, a bit louder than needed. Â He sighed and leaned back, bringing the tea cup to his lips. Â The scent of Earl Grey did little to erase the musk that was now branded in his senses.
