Repost from @jazzangelslb Even adults are learning how to manage their lives under these current isolation conditions by using inventiveness and creativity that us jazz folks often refer to as “improvisation.” During last rehearsal, The Jazz Angels students learned “The Theme,” a song written and composed by Miles Davis, released in 1956 on Prestige Records. Young musicians are embracing this opportunity to release and/or manage their feelings through improvisation via this bebop tune. Spent the day working with the high schoolers at St. Croix Prep Academy. This is really amazing, these students decided they wanted to do a project so badly, not only did they spend an entire Sunday afternoon at school, they went out and raised the money themselves to book the program. That's getting it done. I was incredibly honored and impressed I met them in the middle with cost. We ran 4 hours straight today nonstop and they could've worked another 12 I'm sure. It's so rad seeing kids motivated and getting after it. We'll done St. Croix Prep!
