It would be neat to get a pinole garden going. Godetia, mule’s ears, poppy, goldfields, blazing star, chia, fennel, tidy tips, cow parsnip, candy flower, buttercups, bull clover, western flax etc. all native plants that would come together in a nice little flower patch but also provide a serious crop of edible seeds for me + neighboring critters. Generally curious about pinole as a staple food and thinking about novel applications and processes. It seems like there could be a lot to play with there.

Homemade chicken and scallion dumplings and fried rice w/ a big shichimi togorashi seasoned butter fried egg over top in my lunchbox. Jasmine and rose iced tea w/ a lil strawberry syrup in the thermos. Monday, keep your head up. OK!

Big hummus for workweek lunches done and dusted. Now i’m fooling with a south-east asian sort of bbq sauce: fish sauce, shallots, lemon grass, garlic, dark soy sauce, tamarind paste, chicken stock, a bit of 5spice and brown sugar…. still a work in progress. Gonna slow roast some boston butt for pulling, top with the sauce, pickled veg, cabbage and apple pear slaw, fresh cilantro etc.
