The Smell of Food
Last night I wasn’t well. I wasn’t well at all. I’ve not felt that ill for quite some time - I had a temperature of almost 40C and my throat was so sore I wanted to cry but somehow I managed to get through to the morning. I caught this nasty bug off my daughter - I now completely understand why she was so upset one night last week. She had every right to be. But even when I feel this bad, this morning I woke up to the lovely smell of my dinner being cooked for me. My in-laws are visiting (withdrawal symptoms from their little granddaughter!) and my mum-in-law has cooked our dinner for tonight. Even though I wasn’t feeling hungry, the smell was gorgeous and an absolutely lovely way to wake up. Plus I know I won’t have to cook dinner tonight. Double bonus!
