I found a pile of hand-written notes on different fic-I-never-wrote, but I think these might in fact be interesting to other people. It’s 98% anime-based, because I’ve read minimally of the manga and I read the novels in German and that’s a bad translation and I read German badly at the time, and you know what?

I like the anime.

ANYWAY,

They’re closer to each other than either one is to Gwendal

Gwendal appears distanced to both of them, but does infamously have trouble expressing affection

Conrad and Gwendal seem to be on a more even standing than either one is with Wolfram

They were close as children, but Wolfram’s prejudices made him declare that Conrad was not his brother

And Wolfram-the-child did see this as a loss of a brother, and a betrayal/lie from Conrad

Conrad, too, was quite young when it happened, but we are never told how he felt about it

(the anime in fact shows us Conrad telling Wolfram about his human father, and Wolfram’s immediate reaction - which is confusion. The suggestion seems to be that Wolfram’s prejudices against humans and half-bloods came later, but this contradicts the way Wolfram earlier described it to Yuri. Might be a dub things, I guess)

We know that at ca. the Luttenberg era, Wolfram’s words contradict his feelings - he can admit to himself that he loves Conrad, but is still insisting on his contempt for him twenty years later. 

But now convincing is this act? Conrad’s easy affection in episode 2 and good-natured response to Wolfram’s rejection of it suggests that he at least has long since seen through it

Wolfram never directly adresses his love for Conrad, but others do. It’s always clear that Wolfram deeply respects and admires him. 

Wolfram does acknowledge Conrad as his brother in S3, but to Yuri - we neer see him saying it to Conrad’s face. 

Conrad has always acknowledged Wolfram as his brother. 

But how much does Conrad love Wolfram?

The only time we hear this talked about is Yuri’s words about how he “can tell” that Conrad sees Wolfram as his “precious little brother”; he obviously hasn’t been told

So I think we can all agree that for all the reasons we love Kyo Kara Maoh, stellar writing was not one of them. (nor was passable animation, an inventive soundtrack, or an original take on a tired genre) Fact is: the number of characters who display a distinct and permanent change of worldview during the story is Wolfram, and Wolfram’s character development is that he goes from “DON’T TOUCH ME WITH YOUR FILTHY HUMAN FINGERS” to at some point in late season 3 referring to Conrad as his brother. That’s it, that’s all, unless you count the five hundred or so who come to admit that Yuri is a jolly good fellow and maybe demons aren’t all bad after all, or Conrad and Hube whose angst all happens in flashbacks. 

Yuri, Conrad, Murata, Gwendal, Gunther, they’re all pretty much the same persons in episode 73 as they were when the first showed up. Yuri and Gwendal have had to revise their opinions on some stuff, but not enough to give them any kind of new insight, some big change in their lives. Sure, Yuri decides to stay and be the demon king, but he does that in episode 3 and never questions it. 

(yes, okay, Adalbert and Saralegui do actually get something akin to plot-relevant development, but they’re both secondary characters and antagonists to boot, and their development is still in the “Yuri is great” camp along with Greta and Flynn and Alford and Wolfram’s uncle and IDK)

I’m loathe to call Wolfram’s change “development” at all, since he slips up about his true feelings for Conrad already in episode 10 and then just stops denying it during the....uh, Arm Arc, which is also well before the halfway point of the story. But regardless of its irrelevance, Wolfram’s relationship to Conrad is 80% of why he is my favourite character, and Wolfram’s existence is pretty much the only reason I stuck through all hundredandthirtysomething episodes of this nonsense and then bought the novels in a language I wasn’t at the time entirely proficient in. 

The hilarious part is that I like pretty much every character better than Conrad. 

Not that I hate Conrad or anything - I just don’t care. I don’t care about his angsty past or his emo teens, and I find his relationship to Yuri creepy at the worst of times. No, what makes Conrad a worthwhile character to me is how the rest of the inner circle relates to him. I’m fascinated by what little we get to see of the teacher-student thing between him and Günther. I’m thoroughly pissed off by how little we know about the relationship between him and Gwendal. 

I love love LOVE how in canon, Wolfram doesn’t sit around angsting about how Yuri won’t acknowledge their engagement, because Wolfram knows exactly how good a catch he is and that Yuri’s going to have to acknowledge it sooner or later. In canon, Wolfram’s source of constant trouble is the fact that he has been raised into hating his brother, and has made it a matter of pride to hate his brother, but the fact remains that Wolfram loves his brother, and has always loved him. I love how Wolfram’s love of Conrad just goes against everything by which Wolfram defines his value, but somehow, Wolfram also seems to be ashamed over his pretense hatred. 

Simply put, I think the relationship between Wolfram and Conrad is one of the very few truly fascinating points of Kyo Kara Maoh, and it annoys me something mightily that we never get to see Conrad show some emotion towards Wolfram that isn’t “forebearing amusement” except in some scene where he’s about to fall of his hourse in pure exhaustion. It’s a sign of some greatly wasted potential that the series spends SO MUCH TIME detailing Wolfram’s torn feelings towards Conrad, yet the only thing we know about how Conrad’s opinion is that Yuri surmises that he sees Wolfram as his “precious little brother”. (no, he didn’t ask)

So YEAH I was originally going to put “Conwolf” in the heading here, but the fact is that my feelings about Conrad and Wolfram are pretty much like my feelings about Ed and Al in FMA. The thing I’m after is fluff about how much they love each other. If that’s going to include how much they love each other in bed, well, that’s fine too. And if you want me to be silly about it, then hey: I’m never going to get over that scene where Conrad successfully convinces Some Enemy Patrol that he’s hiding in a cellar because he’s having some quality time with an off-screen Wolfram producing a very girlish giggle.

Do you know, when I take a look at temari Sensei's blog, she put three picture from Maruma. The first one is Yuuri The Thrid One is Conrad♥♥♥ (aww.. Why so shining!? LoL) and you must be thinking that the second one is Wolfram. Yes and No. Because... Wolfram is not alone. ♥♥♥HE IS WITH HIS LOVELY BROTHER!!♥♥♥

SENSEI MUST BE LOVES CONRAD AND CONWOLF!! xDDD (Okay.. it's just my imagination). that's why...

Conrad was babysitting Wolf since he was born, while Wolf used to be admiring him (but now he's only in denial!). I know they care for each other!!! senseeeiii...(Tomo & Temari Sensei)..
