“I’m afraid you are WRONG mother. I’m not being hard enough on myself. You’ve no idea what I’ve seen….what I’ve been through….and the things I have done as a result of that. I became the very MONSTER you took in as a babe.”
Frigga’s mouth thinned into a determined line beneath blue eyes that mirrored the same sentiment,
“I took in no monster.” She asserted, folding her hands in front of her skirts and watching him. “I loved a small, helpless boy who could no more be held responsible for the cruel, callousness of his birth father than he could for his desperate hunger.”
She refused to do nothing as her son believed he had to tear himself apart. She cursed the prejudices of Asgard that had told him being a Jotun was reason enough to think he was wretched, and the ill-fated choices that had led his disillusionment. She should had told him the truth when he was a child, but she knew a part of the reason she had not had been selfish. She had wanted him to be her child and hers alone. She wanted Jotunheim and Laufey to have no claim on him, not even in his own mind, she that he could be hers.
It had been wrong and she knew it now.
“And you - min lille en - are no more responsible or monstrous for what was done to you than that babe was.” She drew in a soft, steady breath, “If you are willing, I would heard of these things you speak of. What you have seen and done and... all else. Help me see, Loki.”
