I audition for a lot of voice roles(haven’t quite gotten any yet) and occasionally I’ll be looking through auditions with my sibling and reading audition lines out loud. Maybe three times out of five, when it’s for a fem character, they’ll look at me and say “you don’t have to make your voice lower there, you already have a lower voice than they’re probably looking for” and I’ll either be like “Oh yeah! I am a contralto” as if I forgot, or I’ll explain exactly why my voice has to go down at that specific point in the line. It’s fun
one of the deepest female singers i’ve ever heard of. contralto profundo, i’d wager. such a lovely tone.
Songs for a contralto
I am a female singer who sings very much in the lower octave I am often described by people who have just met me as 'sounding like a deep voiced man' as I looked on reddit to find some possible songs with no result unfortunately all the contraltos weren't really contraltos or were contralto with a much wider range. Now I do have a wide range I'm trying to work on with my singing teacher to access it but it would be helpful to find some suggestions for songs with lower voices in the baritone-tenor range and contralto. And any advice for a contralto?
