Fruity pebbles & marine biology Oil, pen , dry erase markers and whatever else they had in there hands on clay board 8x10 A day in the life of cory the teacher Recycling is important , the panel was cut down from a painting I never finished , I drew on it for fun while my elementary students worked on a lesson on sea turtles 🐢 I decided to let them draw all over it because they love drawing on the board I then had a high school lesson on limited palette to teach so using our donated and quite used paints I did the first pass , I kept this going by just finishing off with all the old piles of left over tones at the top of my home palette 🎨 it’s rough and chunky and fun . We all have a story, we all have a journey. Some live to tell it, and some don’t. I lost a dear friend to heroin. Prior to heroin, he was kind and light hearted, he was the most forgiving person I have ever met. He was loving, and dreamy, he was gentle. This painting resulted from time I spent remembering him. I originally set out to paint something for his mother, but in doing so i could not stop thinking about him. The longs talks we would have sitting in his backyard during high school, the nicknames, the good times and the bad. I remembered it all, but I also remembered wretched heartache of his life so lost.
