Cien Kriiz - Person-For-Getting-Into-Places-Other-People-Can’t

-Purple-haired, purple-eyed light mage and illusionist, Cien Kriiz is the revolution’s secret, able to move around virtually undetected anywhere she wants.

-For all intents and purposes, she’s Zoe’s annoying little sister who follows her around and makes comments. Both Zoe and Cien have embraced this whole-heartedly, although trying to make sure neither of them cause too many problems is something of a headache for the…more responsible members.

-She’s also technically a survivor of the Nir Rebellion, although she was just marginally involved at that point (as a lookout next to their meeting place).

-Always cheerful and ready to make a witty (or not-so-witty) comment, although in tense situations she drops the cheer, becoming anxious and a little drawn.

-Very few people actually know she’s a light mage, since she keeps an almost constant illusion of brown hair over her purple hair to disguise that fact.

So I realized that the current pages for my WIPs were just the tags and didn’t include any description of the WIP itself or what characters there were specifically. So I made new, fancy, shiny pages that now include synopses, current(ish) word counts, faceclaims, the objectively best characters, and more!

Every good government needs an assassin to do their bidding. Someone who can make sure that the more…troublesome members of society don’t become too much of a threat.

With that, I give you Zoe’s counterpart,

The Knife of Celoras

Not much is known about them, whoever they are. It’s suspected that they are a death or blood mage (or combination of the two), but since no one who has seen them and could tell has lived, it’s just speculation at this point.

They were largely responsible for the failure of the first revolution. It was a smaller, less organized affair, but it was still a threat to the established government. One by one, each of the leaders was killed. The movement crumbled, each member afraid that they could be next and unwilling to risk the Knife coming after them.

It’s unknown why this second, larger revolution hasn’t suffered the same fate, although the most popular theory is that it’s due to them getting their own assassin - Zoe. With the chance of retribution on the line, most of the governors and officials weren’t ready to risk using the Knife if it put their own lives on the line.

And Zoe’s done everything she can to set herself up as the clear opposite of the Knife. Where the Knife is stealthy, sticking to the shadows, she kicks doors open and uses firebombs to prove her point. The Knife has no witnesses - Zoe has hundreds, all claiming to have seen different people.

Leda Metaxas - Arms Supplier

Metal-armed, metal-eyed, weapons dealer. Calm under any type of pressure, up and to including being threatened at swordpoint by armed guards. (This has actually happened, and more than once too)

 They like to claim they have no ties to the revolution, that they’re just ‘business partners’, but by this point that’s just formality. If they ever stopped selling to the revolution, then they’d lose about 90% of their revenue, and 95% of their customers.

Writes up the tax returns for the rest of the members as well, to add at least that veneer of legitimacy to cover up the fact very few of them actually run a business as opposed to using it as cover.

Like many weapons dealers/manufacturers, they’re a metal mage, and so can manipulate metal. This is how they make such perfectly balanced alloys and such. Aluminum and silver alloys are their forte.

Earned their metal arm when there was an accident involving a forge of molten salt and iron that had a ring break. One of their staff was trapped, and they ran back in to save him.

So I’ve spent the time this week doing two things: writing for the Writeblr Hunger Games and writing up magics for my newest WIP: Contact Magic.

It ended up being…sort of long:

So, since there are now 18 different types of magic, I thought I might do a ‘magic week’ where I post two or three types of magic and talk about them and stuff. I’d try to do related magics (so life magic and death magic, heat magic and cold magic, etc.) - what do you guys think?

I don’t think of it as controlling luck. I think of it as creating opportunities.

Aurum Calius - 

Backstory:  No one knows where Aura came from. She showed up in the mountains just around the port (Arorellan, part of Thennaia) where Captain Calius trades for the dyes, lost and frightened and alone, and so the sailors took her in. She was named Aurum for her gold hair/gold eyes that show she’s a mage who can control luck, and took on the last name of the captain. 

Personality: She tends to be rather blunt and swears…well, like the sailor she is. She can’t remember much from before Calius adopted her, and has become the “good-luck charm” (both figuratively and literally) of the ship. Extremely claustrophobic - she almost refuses entirely to go belowdecks on the ship, and needs open skies.

Hi! I’m Charlie, a 15-year old writer from Utah who’s always excited about a) space and b) writing. I only started writing around the end of 2017/start of 2018, but it turns out that I really like it! Sci-fi and fantasy are my favorite genres/inspirations, and so that’s what all of my WIPs fall into.

My WIPs

I have three WIPs that I’m currently working on:

Technomancy: Technomancy’s a modern fantasy about sorcerers who are trying to combine magic with technology. Lin’s a diplomat from one of the factions - the Conservative Faction, which wants nothing at all to do with this technology, who is exiled when she tries to report that another faction, which is much more open to including technology, is building up for an attack. Freezing and in exile, she finds Raedir, an engineer with a grudge against the magical establishment and trying to introduce technology that would fix some of the problems inherent in magical society. She joins with him to try and stop the attack, but the changes that magic and science together will bring are only just beginning…

Main Characters: Lin, Raedir, Eva, Will

Empty Space: A science-fiction story about a military engineering corps who manage to invent the wormhole in the middle of a war. The problem (at least for the government they work for) is that they don’t want to use it to fight. They desert, but even as they try to escape the war, they find that the multiverse has its own problems as well. Creatures, inhabiting the space between, don’t take kindly to being disturbed.

Main Characters: Sadie, Crowe, Kjiersten, Anise, Emil, Silicon

Contact Magic: Contact Magic is the story of Aura, a young sailor who helps transport dyes, and Zoe, a glassmaker’s apprentice who makes contacts, both of whom work to help hide mages. You see, the type of magic you have dictates the color of both your hair and your eyes, and in this world having the wrong type of magic makes you a target. But the government of Celoras - an elite cabal of mages who can control life and death itself -  is cracking down on this trade, and so, forced onto the wrong side of the law, they find themselves drawn into a revolutionary circle plotting to take control of the cities and the nation itself. But there may be more to it than there first seems…
