Yep! It’s a sense of disrespect for him. Just imagine someone going up to you randomly, when you just met them and asking if they can pet you or scratch behind your ears
[And this is why first impressions are important, folks!]
Boops Sorey with his nose.
He’d been crouched in front of his friend, balancing almost precariously on the tip of his toes as he remained face-to-face with the canine. He loved looking into the other’s one eye, a brilliant blue that shone with intelligence and understanding, that could see the seraph.
He blinked in surprise as the other leaned in, touching nose to nose. Sorey giggled, leaning in to return the gesture.
“Hehe, me too boy. I’m so glad to have met you!”

For a moment, Repede stares into Sorey's eyes for quite a while. Looking deep within and not a bark or growl exchanged. Just silence. Until he closes the eye and presses his forehead against Sorey's. ("You’re the only one that understands me.")

During their time together Sorey has learned to read his companion’s intents; the human’s spoken language might be a good methods of communication, but it wasn’t the only one. There was meaning in Melvin’s posture, his subtle movements, the intensity of his eyes-- and now, as the other stared at the seraph, Sorey stared back.
There was an understanding, a mirrored feeling. That above all else, they had each other in this chaotic world. A seraph who could not be seen, and a dog whom rare few seemed to understand and accept his intelligence and depth of personality.
Eyes closed, Sorey leaned in as well.
“Me too. But you know, I truly believe it won’t be just us forever. We’ll find others.”
Repede gathers a bag of his found belongings and starts pushing his head against the back of Sorey's legs. It's about time they get moving. (“We’re leaving! Let’s pack up. Looks like you and me are taking a little vacation. Forever.”)

As far as he could remember, Sorey lived here all his life. The streets of Ladylake with its crowds and smells and ever-moving waterwheel-- this was home. This and the lake and the ruins beneath and the surrounding fields have been his entire world.
But no longer. He wasn’t alone and the prospects of exploring and seeing what was out there with a companion at his side brought excitement. It wasn’t s if he was leaving forever; this would always be home, and he would always be able to return to share all his wonderful stories with Lailah upon his return.
“Okay, okay boy, I’m ready!” Sorey laughed as his canine companion nearly knocked him off his feet from the eagerness. Looks like someone was looking forward to the prospect of the open road. With his small amount of belongings slung across his own back, the seraph picked up his pace towards the gates. “We’ve got the whole world ahead of us, let’s go meet it!”
