Hon. G. W. Martin Principal Speaker at Annual Meeting
-----
Brampton, March 28. - Peel County Conservative Association held its annual meeting Saturday with Hon. G. W. Martin, provincial minister of public health, as the chief speaker.
Mr. Martin declared that advances made in the rural sections by Hydro would cause envy to other countries and that the Hydro commissioners were prepared to take all responsibility for their actions. He stated that as yet no evidence had been presented by the opposition to substantiate the charges that had been made.
He also deplored the claims of fraud that had been made in connection with persons securing old age pensions, which he emphatically stated were unfounded. Nine out of every thirteen persons over seventy were not receiving the pension in this country, averred Mr. Martin.
S. Charters, M.P., and Col. Thomas Kennedy, minister of agriculture, representing Peel in the federal and provincial governments, made short addresses and in resolutions were assured the loyalty and support of the party.
