BACKSTORY: Virgil grew up in a Roman Catholic Orphanage in Vermont in the 1970s. He had been brought there at the age of five, after his primary caretakerâ his grandfatherâ had passed. Facing a abuse at the shelter, he primarily kept to himself in the library. There, he became interested in witchcraft at the age of 14, and studied the practice in secret. After he had obtained his first familiar, he ran away from the shelter on his 15th birthday. His familiar was a companion to him for him after he had ran away, the two of them taking care of each other.
There were familiar ties to the practice that he was unaware of until his abilities strengthened. Virgilâs parents had worked closely with a warlock at the time. There was an accident that had occurred one night, killing both of them. After Virgil had learned of this mishap from a vision, he sought out revenge.
But it wasnât only revenge that Virgil was seeking. He wanted power, too. His powers grew, and he was seeking out for more. In order to fulfill this desire, he planned on finding the sorcerer responsible for the death of his parents.Â
Considering how he was only 19 at the time, and severely limited in the time he had spent working on his powers, it was stupid to go after a powerful sorcerer. He knew that the best way to go after the man was to destroy something of value to him first, to weaken the entity. He targeted the sorcererâs child first. He wasnât intending to kill the kid, but more so hold him hostage, but he was mistaken in his methods.Â
His decision had only angered the sorcerer further in their fight, and Virgil quickly lost to him. Virgil was not exactly killed. To punish Virgil, he was sent to a state between limbo and hell. Virgil spent centuries there, the fabric of his being torn again and again, Virgil reliving his last moments on a loop.
It was his familiar that brought him out. His familiar was no pet, as would seem for some witches, but more so a weak demon that he had summoned and given a mannequin-like body to. In the time that the two of them had been together, mutual feelings had developed, though Virgil never gave into such feelings. He even left his familiar the night that he had gone to fight the sorcerer. His familiar sacrificed theirself to bring him out of this hellish state, when they had finally learned about the truth of their master. However, their power was not strong enough to bring Virgil back in his true, human form. Virgil needed to be... smaller.Â
Virgil was brought out of limbo in the form of a crow. Centuries had passed since he had died. He was alone now, without his familiar and without a voice. He spent a long time flying, hoping to find someone to bring him back.Â
It was then that he found himself in Consequence Point. There, a witch named Delia Forestier resided and felt his distress. It was only by chance that she had discovered him, as he was the crow that often broke into her chicken coop and wreaked havoc on her eggs. She brought him back to his original formâŚ. Mostly. Virgil has difficulty maintaining this form under stress or when he is feeling especially weak. Often times, when he is having a particularly difficult time with his health and emotional state, he will slowly start to revert to the crow form. Furthermore, Virgilâs memories are severely disrupted, and the state of his body is permanently damaged.
With his lost memories were many of his abilities; all the work he had done to get to where he was before is now lost, and he must study again to hopefully get to where he was before. However, Delia refuses to teach him. Not only has she retired magic, but Virgil had an unsettling intensity about him. There was a particular interest in dark magic that worried Delia.Â
If Virgil canât convince her now, he intends on running away with more power later. However, he canât do that until the barrier is down. Perhaps he would just run away with her books to studyâ or perhaps he would go for a more sinister, questionable way of regaining his powers quickly.Â
REPUTATION: Doesnât have much of a reputation aside from the fact that he had seemed to suddenly appear in town. To try and shake off suspicion of Virgilâs sudden appearance in town, Delia claims that Virgil is a sickly family member who managed to come into town before the barrier went up.Â
Her son, Alphonse, isnât too thrilled by this alibi. Especially since Virgil is now recuperating in his old room.Â
Weird fella who goes out into the heat with a scarf. Said scarf is always over his mouth when he is in public.Â
- Partially blind in his left eye.Â
- Left foot is severely damaged and completely incapable of use. May need to have it amputated, as it hasnât been healing right, even with Deliaâs salves.Â
- Torn hole in his left cheek. Teeth his visible.
- often has dizzy spells and migraines
- sometimes coughs up feathers... though he hopes that this will only last for a few weeks.Â
- during his time spent recuperating in Deliaâs home, he spent most of his time online.
- well versed in scripture and likely will spend a lot of his time around the church of Consequence once he is able to go around more.Â
- used to have long hair that went down to his mid back, but it was tornâlike himâduring his time in limbo.
- gay, single (though he isnât actively looking for a relationship right now)
