ArtOfficial & Mayday at Eve. Cover is $10 but ArtOfficial always rocks it so it will be fantastically awesome. Go and enjoy!

Conjunto Progreso, Suenalo & Spam All Stars at The Stage. The ticket is a little pricey, for bands you can generally see for much less. But it is a Halloween party so that means that there are perks... like climbing into a coffin and a costume contest. If you think it's worth the $25 (presale)/$35 at the door, I think you should go! You can get tix here.

I recently re-watched West Side Story and the songs are still lingering in my head... I also kept sighing over Tony and Maria, which has never happened before, but I think that's more of a personal issue...

Viernes Culturales bring you Lanzallamas Monofónica. Viernes Culturales(Cultural Fridays) happens the last Friday of every month along Calle 8 and it usually starts at 6:30pm. If you ever go you'll feel like Latin Culture (predominately Cuban in this case) has been sprayed all over the place, you can play dominoes, enjoy the amazing gastronomy & check out beautiful art inspired by or by Latin people. You can catch Lanzallamas in the Dominos Plaza.

Conjunto Progreso at Pax. By now you should know the bonuses of Pax, everything is free... Well, almost everything, not the booze, but you are already enjoying the free music and parking and it's not nice to abuse. Also, there's nothing like Conjunto to Salsa the night away.

Big Brass Band party at The Stage feat. Suénalo. This actually sounds like the most amazing event for the weekend. New Orleans' brassy goodness mixes with Miami's = Yes please! There will also be live painting and yummy food trucks. Cover is $10 after 10pm (You're not showing up any time before midnight, right?!)

Batuke Samba Funk at Bardot . In the mood for something more... um.. Brazilian? Because, let's face it, those people know how to shake it! If you've never danced Batukada before, just picture being electrocuted by a really sexy taser, it's fast and you must shake your hips... Cover at Bardot is the usual $10, and I hope to God that the people at the door are kind to you, otherwise let me know and I will bash them all over this blog!

ArtOfficial at Jazid. Pardon the redundancy, but this band rocks!! I can't believe how blessed Miami is to have such a talented group. Go to Jazid, get up close and sweaty with the band, I promise it is well worth your time, and the $10 cover.

Cleaveland Jones at Blue Piano. Feel like starting the night off with a glass of wine? Then this is your place, music starts at 10 and I'm sure it will be a great pairing!

Big Brass Band party at The Stage feat. Locos Por Juana. Again, this is the most amazing event for the weekend. Only this time is up to LPJ to represent for Miami, and I'm sure they'll blow the roof off the place. Cover is $10 after 10pm, and if I hear that anyone got there before 12 I'm going to slap them.

Suénalo at Jazid. It's October, but that shouldn't matter, Miami is always steamy and so are the delicious songs from Suénalo. I send you good parking vibes, and take $10 for cover!

Mr. Pauer spinning at Pax. He's not a DJ, I know, but he just got nominated for Latin Grammy!! Now, I'm aware that because the Latin Grammys are so foreign you might not think this is a big deal, but it is... So go because there is no cover and it will be an awesome time!

Kolabo Feat. Ephinko is at Eve Miami. This might be a weird one, because the show is starting with a Rock band, but maybe this can just be a stop later in the night... 

Blah Blah Blah... I can't come up with anything random about me to start with. I haven't been around for two weeks, and it honestly feels like an eternity so I'm very eager to get back and connect with my awesome Miami bands!

Friday

I'll start with the sweet reggae sounds of Jahfé resonating in the walls of Jazid. Cover is always $10 here and I haven't seen a password posted, so I'm sorry! But you should still go and dance with every person in the dance floor.

If you feel like something more mellow head over to Blue Piano to see Cleaveland Jones. Drink wine and get lulled by smooth samba/reggae sounds... I don't believe there is a cover.

I did my fair share of salsa dancing in Ecuador, but if you feel like breaking it down to the sounds of salsa check out Conjunto Progreso at Pax. Cover? $0 Parking? $0 Fun value? Let's say $1M??  If you don't know how to salsa dance go anyway, I'm sure there will be someone, desperate for a green card, eager to show you.

There's a radio broadcast of Spam All Stars at The Stage tonight. Go and enjoy and don't curse too loud, lest it be on the radio! I believe cover for this is probably $5.

MayDay is back at Transit Lounge. As always no cover & it's Transit, so you know it will always be a good choice!

Elastic Bond at Bougie's. Sweet voice, banging music & chill venue are always a good mix. There is no cover and it's a good option if you don't feel like driving all the way to downtown.

Suénalo will be playing at Pax. This is one of those bands you have to see, their energy will inject your night with excitement. Plus Pax is that awesome venue with no cover & free parking.

Locos Por Juana is at The Stage. They will be previewing new tracks, so if you're already a fan (I totally am) you need to go. LPJ always makes me dance and I'm sure their new tracks will only add to my jam repertoire. If there is a cover, it'll probably be $5.

If you feel like sticking to downtown, ArtOfficial is at Grand Central. Free before midnight and they have $4 margaritas!

This is probably the biggest one Buck 15 is Re-opening!! New address is 437 Lincoln Lane and there is free vodka from 10pm-12am and as always there is NEVER a cover!!

So as not to risk the madness that happened last weekend I'm going to break down the whole weekend today. Now I must admit that there isn't much Latin music to savour this weekend. Instead there is a ton of electronic music so the flavor will be more like wasabi...

Friday

The Stage is having an Annual Soulfest weekend... whatever that means. I think it's called Soulfest because there will be soul food available everyday, but I can't say much about the music. Luckily tonight it is all about Soul... They feature Electric Piquete & The Legendary JCs. I've seen Electric Piquete, but not the Legendary JCs, but since they are Legendary I think you should check them out. Their sound is self-described as "soulful rocking blues." Bonus! There is also live art from LEBO Cover is $5

At Transit we have Face2Face a cover band I've never heard of and can't even find online... However, I have heard that they cover music of all types including reggae, hip-hop, funk & pop(of course). As always there is no cover, so yay!

Conjunto Progreso is celebrating Viernes Culturales at Pax. Go and Salsa with the best of them... no cover, free parking, what's your excuse???

If you feel like sticking around the beach head over to Van Dyke Cafe & get your fill of amazingess with the sweet, sweet sounds Elastic Bond. Cover is $7 & as always when there is a show at the beach... Best of luck finding a parking spot!

I actually had to report on Sat night's happenings early because my sister & her hubby wanted to go out, so I had to supply them with a barrage of options. Sadly, Sat night is not looking very good...

Jazid is representing for us live music dancers out there and featuring Araka & Kolabo. If you feel like moving to the sound of horns and shaking your hips to Latin rhythms then please go. As always, I wish you well finding parking & sadly I have no password for you today, but cover is only $10. (I've BSed my way into going in for free so I'm sure you can try that... though I don't recommend it if you're a guy, sorry!)

The Stage's soulfest continues... except this time it's with electronic music... I know. It's $5 to see Stokeswood

Local elctro-dance-band Afrobeta is tearin up The Electric Pickle... There will be hipsters, but the band is actually really good so if you're in the mood for electronic dance music, please go. It's also the kickoff to their nationwide tour, so you won't be able to see them for a while. Bonus! Open Bar from 10-12am. I think the cover for this is $10. 

In case you didn't know, it's National Hot Dog Day... Transit is celebrating by having a hot dog eating competition. This could go two ways: Super fun time or Disgusting Awkward situation. In any case, it's Transit, there's no cover & you get a free drink if you check in with Facebook.

Not sure if you've noticed, but I love alliterations. It all started when one of the few people, I knew, that spoke fluent English added "Stupendous" before my name. I was instantly in love with the catchy melodious sounds of alliteration and I use them as often as possible.

On another note, I have now built a nice little glossary for bands and venues. So you can now look up easily what it is I'm talking about on these crazy posts.

Now onto what I'm supposed to be writing about...

First let me begin by recounting my tales of last night. Remember, how I wrote this nice blog about all of these local bands playing at cool local venues that aren't pretentious and let all types of people in? Well I completely skipped all of that and started at Blue Martini in Brickell at the recommendation of one of my friends.

I must explain that Blue Martini is not really my scene, I usually avoid places where ladies feel like they must blow dry, squeeze, and high-heel themselves in order to feel presentable. (Most of which I totally did, because, as much as I'd like to think I'm a feminist, there is a certain thrill I get from being taller than the majority of people). When I got there I was pleasantly surprised. Instead of a lame DJ they had this amazing cover band that was like a DJ and live music combined which is much, MUCH better. The singers all were amazing dancers and the drummer knew how keep everyone dancing. The band was called Libido, seek them out if you want a night of great musical covers. After Blue Martini there was a brief pit-stop at Transit to catch some of ArtOfficial, but it was ridiculously hot to linger for too long and I was drenched in sweat already.

Pero dime ¿qué puedo hacer esta noche?

There are lots of things happening at different places. Most of the great happenings are around Brickell, as usual, but tonight Wynwood is also representing.

My home base, Transit Lounge, gets first dibs because I love them all. Transit has Mr. Good Stuff food truck there, with their delicious media lunas, seriously you must try these media lunas... Back to the music, they have the salsalicious Conjunto Progreso jamming the night away. Which makes me seriously consider taking Salsa lessons because I have to learn how to be led... As always no cover.

Next we have PAX, which is two blocks away but has the bonus of free parking. I don't believe there is any food planned for this venue but tonight they feature the local act PALO! which will also make you dance. If you haven't checked out this venue I suggest you use this occasion to do so. No cover here as well...

The last of my suggestions tonight is Electric Pickle in Wynwood. They have a band that almost always blows me away... Suénalo. They also were elected Miami's Best Latin Band by the Miami New Times, so if you've never seen them... well I hope you're new in town, otherwise a good slap is in order. There is a cover for tonight but I'm not sure what it is... (probably $10)
