Drake - Nothing Was The Same
Confessional rap is what they call Drake records. Ā Rapping about feelings? Ā Weāve finally found a way to collectively describe rap music that doesn't include all the scary street stories.
Thatās a bit unfair of me, but the term āconfessional rapā is a label for a nonexistent trend, one that only seems necessary to me if youāre talking to people who still have a lot of hangups about their perception of rap music. Ā And hey, thatās not unfair either; Ā In 2007 my idea of great rap music was Aesop Rock, and now I think Kendrick Lamar should be taught in schools. Ā Iām by no means qualified to write critically about rap music, but I still consider that progress.
