In July 1953, Fidel Castro initiated the revolution in Cuba, and after six years, the revolution emerged victorious. We reflect on the occasion when Malcolm X welcomed Fidel Castro to Harlem in 1960. A year following the Cuban Revolution, Castro and his delegation visited New York for the UN General Assembly. However, the Manhattan hotel they initially booked refused accommodation due to U.S. government pressure on other hotels. Upon learning of this, Malcolm X invited them uptown to Harlem, specifically to stay at the Black-owned Hotel Theresa, where he assured them of a warm reception.
