“Land art” is a proud tradition along the route of the Tour de France each year. This fresco of a French comtois horse and cyclist designed by artist Pierre Duc was seen during Stage 7 (2019). Magnifique!

This was super fun and neat to do. Barnabe is one of my more well known OCs, but that’s not really why I picked him to do a redraw of.
Remarkably (or un?) I don’t have a lot of personal work to choose from in the last five years, because I’ve done nothing but commission work for that stretch of time, and I didn’t want to redo some random commission.
But this (the former doodle) was an important milestone for me at the time, because it was when I really tried to get into that ‘true’ anthro look and figure out how my style applied to it.
I can really see the growth in that aspect, and how I’m less tentative using color to imply volume and it was just nice to see I’d improved. :D
