i love the sheer boldness of how Compu-Toon tries to stay relevant while the author/artist staunchly refuses to change most of his concept of how computers and electronics look and work from like... 2003
hell yeah gonna go to the physical store to buy some apps, those still come on CDs you put in your computer to transfer over like Palm OS paid applications in the Bush admin right?

charles boyceâs compu-toon is probably one of the best newspaper comics of all time because its all written with the tone of â90s grandpa who kinda understands how a computer worksâ
but dudeâs been making these continuously since 1994. he should like, know more by now? i think its even primarily presented via online distribution these days
its clear heâs into gratuitous reuse of the art which explains some of the weirdness (take a look at those two desert island panels, published 3 years apart, the vast majority of that wasnât redrawn). but it often makes you wonder when some of the original panels were even drawn and why he decided to reuse those for whatever particular joke he wanted to present. like why are those kids showing up to a physical store to buy the ânew appsâ in a 2019 strip? itâd barely have made sense 10 years ago, which was about when boxed software for phones/pdas was about to die.
