I’m not even going to lie, this is going to wreck you. It’s going to make you question the meaning of life, it’s going to expose you to violence and drugs and gang wars, it’s going to involve you in political conspiracies. It will mess with your mind and your heart, and it will make you feel for the characters. Because. They. Are. All. So. Dynamic. The plot will take you for a spin, and who knows if you’re going to survive?
But.
It will also make you smile. It will make you yearn for justice and sit on the edge of your seat for the gradually developing relationship between Ash and Eiji. It will make you cheer for Shorter Wong, Cain Blood, Max Lobo and Sing Soo-Ling, among others. It will delve into the meanings of “Internal vs External Conflict”, “Self-Worth”, “Friendship”, and “Humanity.” It. Will. Tug. On. Your. Heartstrings.
In short, it will make you feel things, and isn’t that something? So, read the manga or watch the anime, or don’t. It’s up to you. (But I sincerely hope you’ll give it a chance.)

Characters:
Bishounen ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bishoujo ⭐
Protagonist ⭐⭐⭐
(Here it's like Light is the protagonist and L is the antagonist, but I support L's side so I am confused myself haha)
Antagonist ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
(Includes Mello and Near, but I like L more)
My feelings when watching this: Happy, excited, very intellectually simulated
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This totally deserves 5 stars but then L died and M&N took over, so I am hesitating to give it 5 stars since i am pretty depressed.
I understand that all the while L has been fighting alone, and no one takes his side that Light was Kira. Light has his supernatural power, his dad (and ofc the police) who trusts him, his shinigami, Misa and all the Kira fans on his side, so it can be hard for a single detective to be able to win even if they knew Light is Kira.
Moreover, Light know too much about L for L to win, so maybe it is only possible for M & N to work together to win Kira. But it's really sad that my favourite character died when it's not even the end of the anime.
Remarks:
It's been a really long time since I watched this too. I think it's about 2 to 3 years? But since I watched it thrice (yes I like it that much), I still rmbr some parts of the anime now. What I really like most about this was that the author showed how much thought and effort Light and L put in (and ofc the author himself) to generate all these unconventional strategies.
Like the notebook in the drawer part, about how there is a fake diary to throw off people's suspicion and the drawer even blows up if someone realised that there is a secret compartment in the drawer.

He made Light and L a smart vs smart combo, where it is really a battle of wits. I think it's really hard to write a manga this way, since it's like playing a chess with yourself, and you are not deliberately losing to one side. That's why I truly admire this anime and it's author.
