cel·e·bra·tion | the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically *social, activity. • Seems out of context to talk about celebrating but I am. This weekend I will be celebrating my fifth anniversary of a massive heartache. On May 3, 2015. I was walking my dog Chap along the Lake in Chicago and suddenly everything changed. As an active, somewhat athletic, generally healthy guy this was a major awakening. It was also a turning point in my career and my business. • I knew from that moment that the things from which I derived pleasure and beauty really had to be priorities. The people I worked with and partnered with must be valued, trusted relationships in order to develop exceptional value and creativity. So far, so good. • It is odd that in a time when we are in varying stages of isolation on the “anniversary” that I feel very connected by the fibre of the community I continue to build and for this I am grateful and celebrating. • My friend, Alex Maier, aka @superdanger has taken my photo every year on this anniversary. This year he is safely embracing his wife @ninagraceless and their son Rockwell James. But the last time we had a guys confab was in February. And these are those photos. #inspiredliving #becreativeeveryday #communityoffriends #chicagointeriordesign #interiors #photography @gilmelottbespoke (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_mxSTMF-xQ/?igshid=1660ejj6getf8
