Impromptu #knowledgeshare with members of a low-income housing unit whom were proud of their Rose's. They are super proud about keeping the gardeners from spraying pesticides. We talked about the different edible and medicinal benefits of this soothing plant. There Rose's are very fragrant and it was later in the day, good indicator of the medicinal oils in the plant. Less fragrant not as potent. Do your research as to why...science is cool! We ended with one resident getting spent flowers to make cosmetic #rosewater and we reviewed the overall benefits of gardening even in their small spaces. Plants and People HT Conference: Dr. Clarence with @teachme.foundation demonstrates using adaptive tools for members with mobility limitations/needs. Learned simple adaptation techniques that my arthritic hands swooned over. The downside of neglecting to thin the plants is that I now have to pull them up to make room for one to properly grow. Top right to left in first pic 1. Lemon Cucumber 4.Crockneck Squash These type of plants prefer direct sowinh, but if someone local wants to try rescuing some, you're welcome to save em. It has now been my pleasure to have several fruit tree workshops with #mastergardener Herb M. His workshops are always fun and practical. What I value about being a "master gardener" is the sense of community enhancement. It's about getting practical skills and knowledge out for many generations to share in their communities.
