- i actually think they translated it teally well for as rushed and convoluted as act II really is on stage. A lot of people have gripes about it but I think about it in the sense that there's only so much they can add to it really because act II is where thematically, shit hits the fan.

- the costume design and lighting was WAY BETTER in this one, they focused a lot on contrasting elphabas rustic lifestyle to the faux beauty and vibrant colors of the emerald city.

- no place like home and the girl in the bubble were really good. I think no place like home ranks lowest on my list however, it just felt a lot more muted than the other songs in terms of presence.

- the catfight in munchkinland fucking got me, it was a bit of levity to the angst from before. loved the bickering they had.

- ok so... fiyero and boq, lets talk about that. i was a wicked head growing up and read the books(gonna have to reread them ngl, forgot ALL about Son of a Witch) as well as saw the musical multiple times. A theme that kinda fell flat was how a lot of what happens revolves around boq and fiyero having the worst timing in the fucking world. i stand by the fact that in both the stageshow and movie, they were both fucked up for dragging on their two "loves" as they were too cowardly to tell them for YEARS. i promise im not a misandrist either but fiyero and elphaba also never had as much presence and appeal to me in both pieces of media, even less so in the books.

- both fiyero scenes with him trapping the wizard and the cornfield really came through here and felt more impactful in showing how heartbroken glinda was. fiyero saying NOTHING when glinda put 2 and 2 together and confronted them like that eith elphaba giving her pathetic little "it wasn't like that" was PERFECT. as well as cornfield with him pointing a big ole gun at his ex fiance and even ELPHABA showing how shocked and anxious she was when he said he would "shoot their Glinda the Good." CHEFS KISS

-also, lets talk about that gun. elphaba flying away and glinda seeing him still pointing it at her. even if she thought he wasnt going to do it, there was definitely a moment in there(at least how i interpreted it) where glinda was hoping to god that he finally pull that trigger and end her suffering; being held under the thumbs of the wizard and morrible as well as having to pretend for so long.

-another tangent, sorry, but something i really liked is in the beginning of the movie and throughout, glinda says "madame and i" or "the wizard and i" as she morphs towards "i feel" or "i can't." the syntax and specific vocab was a great way of showing how she subconsciously is their little puppet.

-no good deed was amazing, as long as you're mine was eh, for good was fucking killer.

-Oh my god, adding glinda to Wonderful was the best fucking choice. glinda manipulating elphaba without even knowing and just hoping that their friendship is enough to get her to stay is just rotting me.

-i think the choice to have dorothy as a faceless entity was great.

-glinda and elphabas conversation at kiamo ko was great, there isn't much to say, from stag to screen, its just as heartwrenching.

-jesus fucking god, the door did me in. elphaba really locked her in a fucking closet and glinda watched it all happen. FUCK THE TEARS I SHED AT THIS PART.

-glindas confrontation of the wizard and morrible where she has assumed control of oz is amazing and ariana grande nailed this raw and emotional anger and pain in how she has her speaking to them. its visceral but still her proper pretty voice and demeanor. THE CLAPBACK of what morrible said to her at shiz here was 🌟GOLDEN🌟

-elphaba and fiyero walking beyond oz into the light and glinda on the balcony of the most vibrant city in the dark was such nice imagery to how this story evolved from it being the very opposite. i loved how this movie felt like glindas story as much as elphabas and almost changed into a glinda redemption at the end.

-also, glinda finally choosing to be herself and be good truly opening the grimmerie was a nice touch. it kinda supports my hc lore that the grimmerie needs a good witch or wizard as its owner or it won't open or be able to be read.

-the final shot had me in tears all over again because what do you MEAN they paid homage to the playbill.

-overall, everyone is going to go into this with a different view, rating, and idea of it but i think for what they had, this was a banger. CERTIFIED BANGER, YALL.
