“No, of course not. How could I?”

Never could have Hershel ever thought he’d find himself visiting the Nest out of his own, free will. And not only was he not alone, but he found himself with his wife sitting next to him as he lowered down the Bostonius into the shipyard. 

This might’ve been an awful idea. 

He was too late to turn around the airship. If he did anything suspicious, they risked getting gunned down. He turned his eyes to Brenda. She smiled serenely back at him, holding a fruit cake she had made. It was reassuring that she thought about these small details. He hadn’t even thought about even getting a gift!

“...If anything dangerous happens, I want you to do whatever you can to save yourself.” He told her, before powering off the airship.

This seemed to have caused confusion in Brenda. 

“I’m not leaving you here! And-- nothing will happen.” She had reached out to take his hand, and held it with a firm grip. “They won’t hurt us. I know they won’t!”

Fortunately, her voice didn’t shake when she said that, making her words seem quite certain. Then, she led him outside the airship, to go look for Swift.

“Ngh--!”

[He had wanted to pretend he had no idea who he was. But. That uniform. His entire being had recoiled in pain upon seeing it.]
