Commander 19 Thoughts
With no FNM this week and last week I figured I would comment about the new Commander 19 spoilers that started today. Even before they came out I had my eyes on the one revolving around Flashback because I LOVE noncreature spells and the deck is built around casting instants and sorceries twice (assuming your opponents don’t have graveyard hate). Then today I check my Instagram and see the first picture of Sevinne, the Chronoclasm and I’ll admit I got excited because decks with Jeskai colors and noncreature spells are my favorite kinds of decks. I’m seriously thinking about getting it and upgrading it to my liking with cards like Niv-Mizzet, Parun, and Snapcaster Mage (assuming it doesn’t get reprinted). Because Sevinne’s ability also applies to cards with Jump StartÂ
As for the other ones I’m not a big fan of the Morph mechanic because even though it has some uses I don’t think it’s that great, Madness is cool because there are tons of cards that can be used to combo with it to make it INSANE, and Populate has potential to be crazy strong, especially with cards like Wurmcoil Engine. I wouldn’t be surprised if people added self-artifact hate to destroy it on purpose just to create the tokens and then populate them.
So far it’s early but I definitely have my eyes on the Sevinne deck. I’m also considering getting the Arcane Wizardry commander deck because I’ve always thought wizards were a cool creature type and it also kind of revolves around noncreature spells. I’m going to do some more research and keep following the spoilers but at the end of the month I’ll make my decision. If anyone has any tips and thoughts feel free to share them with me.
