As someone who is concentrating in journalism, I agree that the internet has opened up a lot of opportunity for writing to grow. The two are beginning to work together to make writing easier, cultivate better ideas, and gain exposure for our creativity. Miller is clear of this, and I agree that higher education should focus more on tying in writing with multimedia. We use the internet for pretty much everything, especially when it comes to stories, articles, and news. I actually think our audience is everywhere now that the great Web is advancing (and continues to do so), so I believe it makes sense to teach students about that rather than throwing their writing away like they haven’t spent all night getting it together. Like Miller said, we are becoming a nation of writers. Student writing can have meaning if universities take use of the internet and its opportunities. 

Writing- A technology for advancing thought; pretty self explanatory. We write in order to make stories and express our creativity. Then it allows us to move our thoughts forward with revising, expanding, and clarifying our words. But, who do we write for?

If you are a professional author, the answer is pretty obvious: you write for your readers. But what about the students who are forced to write papers for class? Before websites like Turnitin.com were created the answer was there was no real audience; you wrote it to get a grade, and that was it.

Yet nowadays, with the Internet, you do now have an audience: teachers stalking the web to try and prove that a paper was plagiarized. Doesn’t that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
