Made by Frank P. (@franklybuilt​) “My late father took me to see the first Iron man in 2008 when I was about 16 years old and ever since then I’ve been hooked on the MCU and specifically Iron Man. I always dreamed of having my own armor. I mean what kid wouldn’t? But it was always this impractical goal and I had no idea how to use EVA foam or Papercraft. Years went by and eventually, I felt it was time to try my hand at a Cosplay after watching Avengers Endgame and being blown away with the MK85 Armor! It was time to make my first Cosplay. Enter 3D Printing.”

Made by Birdy Cosplay (@birdy-cosplay​) “Costume is made by me, the only purchased parts are the yellow wing parts (I ordered them already in this shape) and the wig (I styled it myself,  but bought the base from Arda Wigs). It was my biggest project so far and it took around 9 months with some short breaks to complete it.”

Arturia Pendragon, from the anime & game Fate/stay night

Crafted by Daniella Lo Presti (@ksfabricartist​) “I created this costume in order to bring to life this character in a realistic way. To replicate the skirt embroidery I deconstructed and pieced back together with different types of lace and I used several layers of cloth so that, when twirling, the gown would open up like a flower. Indeed, in Fate Zero, Arturia is described as being the flower of the battlefields.”

Crafted by Liz Gatouco (@cosbrarian​) “I built the wig and dress from scratch, using second-hand materials to contribute to Sally’s “Ragdoll” persona. I used scraps from tablecloths, pajamas and clothes, upholstery samples, and even the yarn was sourced second hand.”

Jennifer Yi (@kaiweevil​) Keesha's Hungry, from Star Wars “Her eyes are made from dyed round plastic and her mouth, nose, and teeth from painted sculpy. Ears are cut sheets of foam and everything is covered with fur. Cowl is pigskin laced with leather and I used some bones, feathers, and teeth I had lying around for decoration. Hands and feet are modified Yoda hands.”

Comic-Con Masquerade Contest: Heather Robb Costume Name: Medieval Evil Queen

Costume Description: Medieval Evil Queen is my (mostly) historical design based on the Evil Queen from Snow White. This costume was a great way to explore combining a lot of mediums as well as trying some things for the first time. Not only did I design and make all of the garments, but the crown and brooch are resin printed and the embellishments on the dress are 3D printed fabric pieces. I love bringing together modern and traditional costume and prop techniques, and the juxtaposition of those with historical garments really excited me about this project!

Bio: Heather has been making with her hands since she was 8 years old. Anything her mom or other relatives put in front of her was fair game–sewing, crochet, knitting, hook rugs, coloring, painting, pottery, sculpture, and so many more. She tried so many things and enjoyed all of them immensely. As she got older and had the freedom to explore more mediums she’d never dared to try in the past, she realized how much she loved making costumes and props because it requires so many skill sets, constantly drives her to continue learning, and has helped give her the confidence to be herself. She is now co-owner of Sionnach Studios - a costume, prop, & set design and fabrication studio based in Seattle.

Comic-Con Masquerade Contest: Breanne Cremean

Costume Name: Ack! the Kenku monk

Costume Description: Ack! is a part of an amnesia Dungeons and Dragons campaign and has no memory of her past. She chose her name because it’s the first sound she can remember anyone making in reference to her. These photos and video show her exploring the wilds of the midwestern U.S.A.

The costume is entirely handmade (with the exception of the mask blank which was molded by DreamVision Creations). The body is primarily faux fur and feathers, and the wing feathers, tail and feet are done in craft foam. The robe is linen and closes with a belt woven from a number of shiny ribbon bits she has found on her wanders (nesting instinct perhaps?).

Bio: Breanne is a mild-mannered working mom by day, and a giant nerd pretty much 24/7. She enjoys costume art and making lots of things in her downtime, and is always striving to learn new techniques and materials to incorporate into her work.

Iron Man Mark 85

---Costume Description---

I would like to present to you my 3D Printed Iron Man Cosplay from Avengers Endgame. This is a highly detailed recreation of Tony Stark’s Final Iron Man armor. My late father took me to see the first Iron man in 2008 when i was about 16 years old and ever since then i’ve been hooked on the MCU and specifically Iron Man. I always dreamed of having my own armor. I mean what kid wouldn’t? But it was always this impractical goal and i had no idea how to use EVA foam or Papercraft. Years went by and eventually i felt it was time to try my hand at a Cosplay after watching Avengers Endgame and being blown away with the MK85 Armor! It was time to make my first Cosplay. Enter 3D Printing.

The entire Armor was 3D Printed using 2 Creality CR-10S Printers. It’s printed completely out of PLA+ Plastic filament and took about 14 rolls to complete!

Once all of the pieces were printed, now came the real hard part! Fitting everything to by body! Scaling 3D Printed (or really any Cosplay armor) can be a real nightmare with proportions, fitment, movement, wearing everything and even taking it off! 

So now everything was fitted (or so i thought) i moved onto the next stage that has a very bad image in the 3D Printing realm; Sanding! 

But now came the real challenge! How do i PAINT a bunch of PLASTIC, Too look like METAL that was only ever a CGI model in a movie in sub-par lighting conditions? So i went to work testing colors.

And if i’m being honest? I think i did a pretty good job! The red still wasn’t quite dark enough but this was easily adjusted depending on the lighting of said images. 

It was starting to come to life! I’ve been told this image looks like an action figure a child ripped the legs off of; which is a compliment I think!

But what about the electronics? What good is an Iron Man Cosplay without the bells and whistles? My next goal was to have all of the typical features of an Iron Man Costume; Motorized Opening Faceplate, Wrist Activated Palm Repulsors, Body panel LED lights and even a “Snap” Sensitive Infinity Gauntlet!

The suit was fitted, the paint was dry, the electronics were done, and i have no words to describe how amazing this first “suit up” felt after months of hard work. 

This was it. The moment I had been prepping for. Months of work. Sleepless nights. Long days of frustration. But it was finally here. The finished product.

Hey everyone! I’m Frank! I’m 29 and can’t get enough of Prop making and this wonderful world of Cosplay! I’ve been living abroad with the US Air Force for about 8 years now with my wife and 2 puppers. I was initially stationed and living in Okinawa Japan for 4 years and now my career has taken me to the United Kingdom! Traveling the world with my family has been such an amazing opportunity! Costume Description: It's all handmade (except the basic boots under the hand made gaiters and the trousers which are dyed jeans) from real leather and linen and I spent almost 6 years making it because I wanted to do it as detailed as possible. And I'm still working further on it. 

Comic-Con Masquerade Contest: Michelle Joy Princess Hedmond

Costume Name: Mulan

Costume Description: Recreation of Disney’s Mulan 1998 

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” ~The Emperor, Mulan

Makeup, Hair, Accessories, & Costume by Me. My whole costume was made without using any patterns. I usually eye it & wing it every time. My earrings are made out of hot glue & gold loose pigments. All the flowers, trims, & appliques, I hand sewed onto my costume. Total of 5 pieces to put together. The top has 2 snaps to close it in front. The Obi has three big snaps in the back. The belt is tied in a bow. The red skirt and gold train are both one skirt with a zipper on the left side. The lavender sash is one long piece with dollar tree flowers that I sprinkled all over! If you look at the sleeves, I also sprinkled flowers on them too. As if flowers from a tree fell onto me. 

Bio: I’m passionate about Cosplay because it’s all of my talents in one! Sewing, Art, Design, Makeup, Hair, the whole shebang.  I’ve always wanted to revamp my Mulan costume. The very first time I made my Mulan costume, back in 2015, it took me 2 days to complete because I was just so excited! With every year that passes by, I upgrade a piece here and there. It always evolves. At least a piece or new fabric is added or changed the next time I wear this cosplay. I worked super fast within 3 days to bring my vision for a new design to reality. She’s my ultimate favorite Disney Character! I’ve looked up to her my whole life. This cosplay is so special to me.
